Intrepid InternationalBreakaway Leather Crown Padded Halter

I like the style, fit, and quality of this halter.I bought 2 of these halter for 2 of my horses 2 years ago. They have held up very well.I ordered this 3rd halter for a new horse.

I just needed a basic halter for turn-out at the place that my horse resides. Within a couple days, he was able to get out of it, even without breaking the break-away strap. I tightened it more, but he still escapes out if it. The piece that goes over his nose is very stiff - you can see in the picture. I imagine it will soften a bit. The break-away strap is OK, but like I said, DID NOT BREAK AWAY. It is a good halter for the money, but it looks like I will need to be buying more of then since I have a Halter Houdini.Have now had the halter over a month and noticed when the break-away piece gets wet, black stain comes out. That should not happen because obviously these halters will get wet.

Really nice quality for the price. There is neoprene-like padding on the inside of the noseband that you can't see in the photos.Update: Bought this because boarding facility leaves halters out on the gates and sometimes on the horses. It has been exposed to all weather and hijinks and it still cleans up like new. No tears and the lining and buckles never rub my horse's face. The leather is a bit stretched out but still works. If he pulled hard it would definitely break like it's supposed to. And pieces of old stirrup leathers work great as crown replacements! Best halter I've ever bought and will be buying more in case they ever stop making them. Can't recommend highly enough!

The halter is really nice, but the crownpiece stretched thin within a week and broke under minimal pressure. I had oiled it before use, and every day for the first week. I have replaced the crownpiece with one of better quality.

This is a great break away halter. It is attractive looking, and it works as it is supposed to.

The most important thing for a potential buyer to know is that this is not a true breakaway halter the way I understand the term. There is a leather crown piece that apparently will tear under sufficient tension, but this is not reusable and you must find another piece of leather (or buy one!) if the halter ever does break away. So while the overall quality was good, I returned it in favor of a halter that has a small leather attachment that will come apart in an emergency but then can be reused by snapping it back in place.

Very nice quality, flashy but low maintenance . Looks great on my gelding. Like that the breakaway matches the halter. I turn the rough side of the leather strap up so he gets the smooth side against his poll.

Really great quality, everything is adjustable. I really like the leather. Took a while to ship but definitely worth it. Haven't tried it yet but I hope it fits!

looks great on, only thing is the leather strap is really thin and cheap looking.

Decent quality- good price for what you get. It fits a tiny bit weird on my mare's head, but I'm not sure why and it's not obvious. Would buy again if I needed to.
