Iconic design, mechanically well executed
I've always like the design of this watch-face, based on the clocks to be found in Swiss railway stations, and I used to have a smaller quartz version of this watch. Since then, watches have grown in size and I've also come to appreciate automatic movements over quartz. In addition to larger design than the older watch, this model also has day & date functions, which I also like. The watch also permits the user to set the day in one of 3 languages -- English, French & German, which I think is a very nice touch. However, be aware that all this mechanical movement means that watch case is quite a bit thicker than you might be used to -- that's not a problem for me even though I have small wrists, but something to know. One thing I don't understand is that the watch is only offered with a leather wristband or strap. The quality is fine, but, for a watch that can be safely worn when swimming (NEVER wear a watch in the shower or bath!) and is waterproof up to 30m, that strikes me as a bit odd. I would like to see a stainless-steel or rubber/silicone bracelet offered as an alternative. I replaced my leather strap with a rubber/silicone bracelet, and that works better for me in terms of practicality and aesthetics. As far as time-keeping and accuracy are concerned, this watch is very good indeed. Usually with an automatic movement, gaining or losing a couple of minutes over the course of a few days or a week is to be expected -- for me, that's one of the pleasures of owning something analog: it requires my attention. (Some people are fine with only ever driving a car with an automatic transmission. I prefer to drive cars with a manual transmission.) If you find the prospect of this to be somehow annoying, then perhaps an automatic watch is not for you and you should either go with a quartz one or something digital like an Apple Watch, if you want a watch you'll be wearing on your wrist. These things are very personal. Finally, I should mention that the watch I currently have is a replacement, as the original was losing 10 minutes a day, which was unacceptable, before it stopped working altogether in less than a week. This must have been a defective model and it was replaced immediately without any problems. The replacement watch has been excellent over the 2 months of wearing it every day, and, unusually for an automatic, keeps excellent time, not requiring any further adjustment except for changes to Daylight Savings Time.

Great looking watch, front and back
Bought this watch as a keepsake for a family member that had passed away. I really love that it is not an overly complex face, and the date is easy to adjust. It ran a little fast (a minute or so a week), but nothing I couldn't handle.Sadly after six months it developed a weird stress fracture across the glass on the front - literally a crack from one side of the face to the other. I only noticed it after driving home, but I hadn't dropped it or bumped into anything that I can recall. While Mondaine guarantees the watch for a year, this does not extend to the glass. For this type of money I would have hoped it would have sapphire crystal not mineral glass, and I wouldn't have had this problem.

This automatic is by far better than the Stop2go example. Buy it!
I had first purchased the Stop2go battery version of this watch since that functionality is more like the Swiss Railways clocks these watches are mimicking, but the quality of that watch was really sub par, so I returned it. For the same price I was able to get this automatic version with the day/date complication and I couldn’t be happier! The quality of this watch is definitely worthy of the price and could probably fetch even more. This is the one you want… trust me!

A Swiss Made Swiss Watch
This is a great watch. It's big, and it's easy to read the time. There is something about the simplicity that makes it attractive. It's fun just to watch the automatic movement through the clear back. So far, accuracy has been perfect. As to the movement, there has been some discussion about the quality. I did a little bit of research and based on what I found, this is not really a concern to me. This watch uses the Sellita SW220-1 Day/Date Movement, a Swiss made clone of ETA 2836-2. The ETA movement was owned by the Swatch Group, which decided several years ago not to sell the movements to non Swatch Group companies. Some former ETA employees formed Sellita, and created ETA movement clones, as the patents have expired. I understand that some of the Sellita models are exact copies (as is the case with the SW220-1), so parts can be exchanged between ETA and Sellita; however, I'm not a watch maker/repairer, so this only what I have read. Every Swiss watch company that is not part of the Swatch Group is using Sellita movements, and I have not read about anyone who questions their quality.

too expensive....
I returned it. It was too expensive, and it did not look that nice, not nice enough for the price. If it was around $210, I guess I would have kept it.

Not good, if you are a stickler for quality.
I saw the photos of this watch. I so wanted to add to my watch collection a time piece with such bold and clean lines, something unlike what I've seen anyone else wearing (if they wear anything on their wrist at all). Upon receipt, I have been completely disappointed by this piece. I tossed the band immediately. It was a total piece of junk, and I don't believe worthy of the LOOKS of this watch. If you noticed, I said the band wasn't worthy of the looks of this watch, because that is all it seems to be about. The time keeping and movement to me just seem...sloppy. I can't put a finger on it. Totally not my bag, any way. Much happier with my Hamilton Khaki, Seiko Prospex Turtle, Marathon dive watch, even my Tissot quartz.I wish I could have my money back to save toward my retirement Rolex Submariner, but since I bought it before my most recent deployment and I also tossed the crappy strap I'm sure I can't get a refund.

The watch is beautiful and very comfortable
The watch is beautiful and very comfortable. I have had no problems so far (1 week). It clearly is value for money and a straightforward no nonsense watch.

Limpio y claro
