Minecraft: Exploded Builds: Medieval Fortress: An Official Mojang Book Kindle Edition

I ordered this book for my kids since they love building in Minecraft, and once I saw the variety of medieval building instructions inside, I gave it a shot as well. To be very clear, I am nowhere near as skilled at building in Minecraft as my kids are, but this book still worked fairly well for me. I did struggle with figuring out exactly what the measurements were, so my builds didn't end up exactly like the ones in the book, but the kids didn't seem to have the same problem. They built the towers, houses, and fortress with absolutely no problems, so I'm guessing that part of the problem is my lack of skill. All in all, we've gotten some great use out of this book and inspiration for more builds in the future, so I'm very happy that I bought it and definitely got some laughs out of my mistakes as I tried to improve on my less-than-impressive skills!

This book provided excellent ideas for the Left Side of My Brain to utilize in future Minecraft builds! It shows the reader in some detail, how to build interesting structures, such as battlements, castles, and other cool fortifications! As soon as I got the book, I built a really cool castle from the diagrams and steps in the book. So, if you are interested in building advanced fortified structures, this is very helpful.Couple caveats... this book won't provide diagrams to build advanced modern structures, such as fancy homes, and skyscrapers. However, the ideas provided in this book will provide energy for your creative ideas to emerge in an actual structure that you can be proud of! This book, in addition to purchasing a few Minecraft Worlds on the Minecraft Store, where advanced architecture is all around you and can be studied, will get you to the next level.My only criticism - and this should be fixed next printing - the diagrams are very helpful, but very small. So small, that the reader almost needs a magnifying glass or reader helper to see all the parts and how they fit together.To summarize, a GREAT Minecraft building book, and I hope there is an entire series of Exploded Builds that follows.

I love this book. It doesn't tell you exactly how to build all the structures which teaches the player how to design and build as they go. I didn't want a detailed blueprint, I wanted ideas and some guidance. This book has fantastic ideas, great illustrations, and great explanations.

The book was ok but they don't tell you how to build anything in detail. A lot of the time its just a picture from one side and your on your own to fill in the gaps. It is a little frustrating when you spend so much time building the redstone contraptions only for them not to work right.

This book was exactly what you would think it to be. I first want to refer to something you will read in a review that I red while trying to decide if I was going to purchase this book. One reviewer mentioned that their book arrived with dirt on the pages they sent it back it was replaced and the 2nd book they received still had dirt on the pages. This is NOT really dirt, it is printed that way to appear to be worn and dirty it is MEDIEVAL FORTRESSES it is supposed to look old and worn. One reviewer mentioned that it was not an exact set of explicit directions on building the buildings, this is true. The directions are not step by step and I do agree I would be interested in a book like this. However if you have ever built lego then you have seen how long a step by step instruction booklet for even a simple little build is so imagine the size of a step by step instruction for the castle in this book not to mention I would not think you would pick it up for under 20.00 as this book is priced. This book is exactly as it presents itself, an Exploded Build of Medieval Buildings and a really cool tool for getting an idea of how to build things and how to set up your own Medieval fortress and outer community and how to keep it safe with traps and special builds to protect against explosion and invasion. This was an excellent book at a fair price and I hope to see more like it with the same Medieval Theme.

Very simple and easy-to-understand builds. A friend and I were wanting to build a Medieval village on our server so I bought two copies of this book. Many great ideas and easy to put your own personal touches to it with the help of some great mods if you wish!

Great book, worth a buy--but don't expect great instructions. This is more of an idea/jumping off point rather than something you can use as a blueprint. The portcullis and redstone parts in particular lacked in really clear instructions so we had to fill the gaps with guess work.

My 10 year old son got it for Christmas and he loves it. He was bummed before opening his gift because he knew it was a book. He doesn't like reading much at all but he's very bright, and he loves video games. He completed all of it within a month I'd say including the really hard castle. He liked it! I'm happy...

Delivered quickly, perfect for keeping me sane during the lockdown. Only drawback is that Mojang could have included some idea of the seed they used for their build

This is a beautifully designed hardcover book that shows how to create an incredibly detailed Minecraft build: a medieval fortress complete with a castle and village.The book presents the each part of the build in a fully labelled exploded isometric drawing, noting which blocks are used, how long spans should be, and how all the parts connect together. Each build is followed by suggestions on how to alter the basic build to achieve different looks, like changing a tower from square to round, or adding an interesting roof. There are also suggestions about other changes that could be made, like making a moat deadly or where to hide a trap. There are lots of options and suggestions on how to fully customize the build.The drawings look a little complicated at first glance. However, my young son has had no trouble reading them and replicating the builds in Minecraft. The induction to the book provides all the details you need to decipher the drawings. Once you have it figured out, building is easy.Do note that the builds in this book use blocks available in the Java-based PC version of Minecraft. If you are playing Minecraft PE, Windows 10 edition, or a console edition, some of the blocks may not be available. (Although, all versions are being updated all the time, so things may have changed by the time you read this.) We are building our castle in the Windows 10 edition and the Java-based version, and where there specific blocks are missing, we are substituting with similar looking books. (E.g. replacing stained glass with coloured wool.)I hope that this is the start of a large series of Exploded Build books. We are thoroughly enjoying working on our fortress and can't wait to build more.

I bought this book for my 13 years old son a while back for his birthday and he loves it! I see him read it all the time and he took inspiration to build many minecraft builds. I would recommend this book to many minecraft builders and also to those who love architecture in videogames.

Good book for ideas and such. My son collects these and have a few of these Minecraft books.Minus one star for the book corner being damaged from poor packaging. Will get it replaced as it’s collectors item for my son.Otherwise good book for creative ideas!
