solid controller
I went in with some trepidation seeing as this is some off brand toys r us controller. Especially with the $30 price tag, and only 1 other review(thank you kind sir/ma'am) I had my doubts. Well 5hrs later and many games tested, i must say this thing holds up. I played street fighter 2 and final soldier on the pc engine using the included adapter. Really had no problems pulling off special moves and the d-pad feels pretty good. Not quite as responsive as the original turbo pad, but honestly if that pad is a 10 I'd give this one an 8. Played super star soldier, blazing lazers, and bloody wolf on the tg-16 and had no issues with button or d-pad fallout. Cosmetically its close to a carbon copy with the differences being not quite as tall buttons and little lighter in weight. Turbo switches work as theyre supposed to, and again saw no problems in switching between the various speeds. For the money I'd say its worth it, with the pc engine adapter pushing it to full $30 value. Also, I wasnt given this as a gift or a promotion and i really have no idea how that even happens. Hope this helps!

Get A Real TurboGrafx-16 OEM Controller
I had high hopes for this controller when it arrived but unfortunately it barely worked with the original TurboGrafx-16 console that I own. It was a great idea in theory. I tried it with a number of games and was barely able to navigate through 1 minute of game play without the button functions crossing. If you are ok with the directional pad acting like the game play buttons and vice versa then go ahead and purchase this controller. If you would rather that not happen then make sure to spend the extra money to buy an original OEM controller. Although the original OEM controllers from that era cost an extra $20 to $30 dollars if you actually want to play your console and not just look at the game credits then definitely consider investing in one.In addition to the controller not working the packaging was extremely flimsy and it also looked like the controller had been used (returned) before. Again, this controller is a waste of time if you have an original TurboGrafx-16 console.

Full of useful parts for refurbishing an OEM TG16 controller!
I have my original NEC TurboGrafx-16 controller, which is in good physical / cosmetic condition, but has never worked properly in all the years I've owned it. I've spent too many hours tearing my OEM controller apart, carefully cleaning every component, painstakingly re-forming the tiny metal forks in the turbo switches, etc., but despite all this, it's just flaky - button presses randomly fail to trigger. At some point I'll start re-soldering components, but for now I just wanted another controller. I ordered this one in the hope that it would be a decent substitute, and I was surprised - it doesn't just look "like" an OEM controller, the casing is almost exactly identical - it's just got the wrong brand embossed, and doesn't have the official graphics around the buttons. Since I had my OEM controller pulled apart anyway, I did a quick experiment: I migrated the circuit board, rubber pads, and cable from this "Old Skool" controller into the original OEM controller shell, and PRESTO, I now have an authentic-looking, fully functional controller. Yes, the controller plug is upside-down as others have noted which is weird - I haven't checked yet if the OEM cable can be swapped in, but either way - if you have an OEM controller that needs a "brain transplant," this is a really good option!

Great Controller and the Cable Adapter is a Welcome Bonus
If you still enjoy your TurboGrafx or PC Engine, this is a solid replacement option. With worn-out 30-year-old controllers in the second hand market available at twice the price with decades of grime on them, this is a solid option. Directionals all work fine, and I like that they went for the TurboPad aesthetic. I would love the option to get a Core Grafx blue color set or a red PC Engine themed controller, but it works great, which is what counts in the end. Please consider making a TurboStick replacement! All the second-hand 30-year-old TurboSticks are in horrible shape (missing turbo sliders most often) for crazy costs! Having a Slow button would also be super welcome, since it would help a lot in the schmups!

Quality control hit and miss
Likes:- now works with Turbotap- looks very similar to the original controller- works a treat...when it works- manufacturer responds to emails quicklyDislikes:- the ‘II’ button quickly became unresponsive on 1 of the 2 controllers I orderedOverall:Quality is inconsistent but the controller is great, when it does work. There aren’t any alternatives (that I know of) so let’s hope the manufacturer keeps improving this product

It works on Turbotap… BUT
First, it has a slightly different feel, its not too bad from original though so 4 outta 5 stars. It does work in my official TurboGrafx 16 Turbo Tap… BUT the friggen pins are reversed / upside down…Docking 2 more stars for that.Cause now every time the kids or friends play it, I gotta remind them to remember to flip that one controller plug over so they don’t break the pins or the Turbo Tap port when they are trying to force it in the “normal way” which has almost happened twice now.

The DIN connector is upside down
I read some reviews about the din connector being manufactured upside down. I hoped it was just an issue with older models, but the one I received from Amazon had an upside down connector. I contacted the company directly and they didn't seem aware that there was ever an issue with how the DIN connector is manufactured, and there was no follow up on whether this would ever be fixed.I ended up returning this and buying an original TurboPad on ebay.
