Good buy, came out beautifully!
This was my first time using Tung Oil. I chose this brand because I was looking for a company that accurately represented their product's ingredients. This was for an unfinished wood piece that may occasionally have food prepped on it, so I wanted a safe product. I was very pleased with the quality, quantity, and performance of this product. The color is beautiful! I decided not to go any darker because I was happy with it as is (I believe it was 3 or 4 coats.) The original piece almost looked white washed, so I wasn't sure how this would come out, but the oil brought out all of the beautiful character of the wood. It was very easy to use, a little messy, but I think that was on me, not the product. Would buy again if needed.

I love this stuff. Follow the recommendations and it will give you a great finish.
I'm using this to finish a walnut bed that I am building. Without having to stain, dye, or grain-fill, I've gotten beautiful results. Some reviews fault it for being "slow drying," and some even claim that months later it is still wet. Yes, it does take time for it to dry. That is an inherent feature of tung oil. But if it is still feeling "wet" or oily after more than a few days (a week tops), you are probably using to much, improperly applying, or both.As the product's directions clearly state, the best way to apply is by sanding. I start by wiping on enough to cover the surface and then sand the entire application with 220-grit wet/dry sandpaper. After sanding, I wipe off the excess oil and let dry for a day or so. The next application, I use 320-grit. For the third application, I move up to 4xx-grit.After letting the piece dry for several days, it has a stable, beautiful finish. It is somewhat labor intensive, but the result are well worth it, especially at this great price.

Great quality
The oil was shipped quickly and arrived undamaged. It does not smell bad! It has a nutty scent - compared to polyurethane it smells awesome :) I am using it to finish a butcher block countertop - the application was a little tedious (3 layers, it's not close to the sink so I figured that's enough) but now the counter is smooth and has a slight sheen - not oily or tacky. You can only smell it when you come very very close - and it only started drying 2 days ago.

Easy use
Works really well and it is easy to use. Great multi-purpose wood oil for projects. The only drawback is the smell. It’s not horrible but I prefer the smell of other wood oils have used.

Better and easier than other finishes
I'm a beginner woodworker - made plenty of 2x4 benches, workshop shelves, fences, and other miscellaneous items - all out of pine. I've finished with various water and oil-based paints, stains, polyurethanes, and stain+poly all-in-1. I've always been happy with results, but the finish has well-matched my skill.I just started venturing into finer woodworking, and heard about finishing with Tung Oil, and wish I knew about it earlier! The finish is so rich - it really highlights the wood! Poly seems to lack depth, but has plenty of shine. Stains give depth, but it always seemed unnatural - and I didn't want to do something irreversible on expensive walnut. Tung Oil has depth of color, somewhere between a Satin & Semi-gloss shine, highly water-resistant, food-safe, and incredibly easy to apply! PLUS, I think it smells great.I've heard you need to recoat once a year - I'll update use on my 2x cutting boards.

Excellent Oil as a natural and better alternative to varnish and stain
I found this online after researching alternative approaches to staining and varnishing wood (the conventional stuff is full of chemical nonsense). Watched some vids of people that use it and decided to give it a shot. I mixed it with orange oil 50/50 to thin it a little and help the first coat seep into the wood better. then pure Tung for the second coat. Has worked beautifully. Natural pine coffee table I built has come out beautifully, with a subtle natural glossy sheen. After the two coats, I left it for 12 hrs, then just used some kitchen roll to wipe away any excess left and bingo, a beautifully stained coffee table. Won't be using any conventional stains or varnishes anymore, this is really, really good - especially if you want a natural sealer and stain - perfect!!!!

A great product!
This is a great product for the home woodworker/painter. I found it easy to use once I read and understood the directions. I recommend checking the website as well.I did 3 coats over 2 days to my newly built redwood table and couldn’t be happier. The 1st coat I cut 50% with turpentine, the 2nd with about 20% turpentine and the final was pure tung oil. For each coat I let it soak in for 45 minutes then wiped it off.Over the next 3 days I also wiped off any excess oil that had come to the surface, although it was negligible after the 2nd day.Now the table has a rich, warm finish and I believe it will stand up to the light rains we get in out area over the winter.Give this stuff a shot and avoid the Home Depot junk that just clogs the wood and makes it feel greasy.

Highly recommended. Waterproof all natural seal
I bought this to seal butcher block countertop. I tried some mineral oil based product butcher block sealer but it was not waterproof at all and it was full of xylene and cancer warnings on the labels. I let it dry outside. We needed something that did not need to dry outdoors because of harmful chemicals.I rubbed only 1 coat of this and let dry overnight. It provides a waterproof finish, water beads up on the surface. The odor while it was drying was faint sesame/peanut smell. No flammable cancer causing fumes.Still have a lot left over and will do another coat for improved water resistance.I read a lot of reviews that were kind of mixed and confusing. This will darken the wood a little bit, that was not important to me. I just wanted waterproof and no harmful chemicals.Highly recommend to anyone.
