Edit 01/03/2024: I've had this blotter about 1 1/2 years so I thought I'd update my review. I've used it hard, but it's essentially still like new. As long as I remember that it's not some sort of cutting board or workbench platform, I have no doubt that it will outlive me. I did have to put some two-sided tape under it to keep it in place. For writing (especially with fountain pens!), I couldn't desire a better surface. All in all, this is a well-crafted item and I would recommend it to anyone who's willing to pay more for quality. Yes, this blotter is ungodly expensive; there is no way I'd ever divulge how much I paid for it to my wife. But I previously had a real leather blotter for 20 years, and it looked like new right up until I stupidly ruined it with modeling glue. It was the best writing surface I ever encountered. I just wanted this blotter to be as good as my old one, so I was ecstatic to find that it was far better! It's three times as thick (it was shipped flat) and the edge finish is superb. Also, the color and leather smoothness was exactly as described. So, if you have a great desk and are willing to pay for the ultimate writing surface, this blotter is for you. If quality isn't important, there are plenty of blotters made with PU (fake) leather that cost a fraction of the price. You'll get what you pay for.

Super nice, Very firm but not hard like glass. I was looking for something to cover a textured desk that a mouse could move on could be written on, Size is prefect, works great!

This material is leather but the surface is more like suede leather, i.e., this is like a brushed leather. I guess they wanted to get it to look like the surface of an ink blotter. This is on a hard backed material which is good. It would take a lot of effort to get it to scoot or slide. If you tried hard you could maybe break the material but not easily. Functionally it is great. It makes paper easy to write on. On the negative side, if you lay your arm repeatedly across the same area, the area gets a matted down, slightly discolored look, which does not brush up with a stiff brush. Maybe that is skin oil and will return to previous appearance with soap and water...who knows. Also, their idea of chocolate brown is a deep, deep maroon, color. I guess they mean like devil's food cake brown. All and all, having read other reviews of the other products, I think I would probably repurchase this one, maybe in black. Apparently no one makes exactly what I'm looking for.

Few items I buy are better than expected. This is one. It is built perfectly, leather is real, durable and the pad is almost strong enough to stand on. I used it to work on my L-Shaped desk at a 45 degree angle. I have bought ever of these pad to give to coworkers. They are expensive but a good value for the price given the quality. Nice to see there are still leather craftsmen out there!

Terrible. Be careful. I returned the item. The box was opened, but the pad wasn't even taken out of the plastic. I looked at the corners and saw very thin leather. I didn’t like it. Without even unpacking it fully, I sent it back. The company deducted \$34 from my refund for “damage.” Extremely overpriced item — not worth the money. Stay away.

Expensive but being pure leather has good feel on the desk it is chocolate brown in color used a small amount of Howard’s leather cleaner , it really darkened the leather to deep brown I have had this since 2020 it has held up very well , once a year I just use leather conditioner the surface turns out to be beautiful and just shines like new !

Great desk pad. Great price

I bought a new desk, thank you COVID, and wanted something to protect the surface of the desk. I also use the desk as a sewing table. This looks great on the desk, classic. I needed it to be without side-rails to fit my machine. I am very pleased, Good thickness, writing on it is effortless, works well for all I ask of it.

For expensive leather it looks like vinyl. It is expensive for what it is.
