Good, not great
My son loves the book, but it is a bit frustrating. Besides the gorgeous cover, the actual images look muddy. One of the first projects a sticky piston hidden door is missing a step, you have to add a line of red stone dust under the block sticking out of the wall. So while it has helpful information, the diagrams don’t appear to be completely accurate which is not something I would expect.

There are better choices out there for a Redstone Guide....
This seemed like it was going to be a great series, but the whole family was a little disappointed with them, and the Guide to Redstone was the most disappointing. The book is far too small to be able to include the amount of information they were trying to explain. The pictures are too small to see properly and there are too many steps left out of the tutorials. If your kids love Minecraft, they will probably love the book anyways. But if they are serious about learning more about Redstone, I would look for a larger, more in depth book.

Frustratingly bad
My son got this book for Easter and let me tell you.... it truly ruined his evening. He was dying to build the elevator and some of the steps didn't go with the pictures. One step was wrong and then they repeated the step over on the next page with the right amount of blocks. When you finish it, it doesn't work. We built two things that didn't work and that was enough for us lol. I never have to help him with stuff like this. The fact I sat in there to go over the steps and saw myself how terribly written this book was... says a lot. We ordered the redstone handbook which hopefully will yield cooler project ideas that WORK and can be expanded on.

Added to our collection!! Perfect for adding to a creative mind!
Added this redstone book to our collection and just LOVE it!! So fun to watch my son (6 years old) look through the book and then able to build his creations! He is a beginning reader so cannot read all the words, but the illustrations are very helpful and my son has no issues understanding it!HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!!!

Not much useful content
I wanted to become more advanced with redstone but all this book really had was very basic redstone instructions and only a few random projects you can make, but they weren't all that useful. I was hoping to get some more information on more complex circuits, uses for more complex circuits, and how to build them, instead what the book had was pretty basic.

Great tool for helping to learn to use Redstone
Kids loved this book. It was a cool reference and idea guide to help them think of cool new things to add to their worlds. Was a great tool to show off how to build neat things with redstone. Would have been nicer if they would have taken the LEGO approach in showing examples. Good content nonetheless.

Incorrect instructions
A number of the instructions are missing steps or are flat out wrong. It was frustrating for the whole family. I would not recommend this to anyone interested in actually building things.

NOT FOR ALL
I got this to help me help my granddaughter with redstone builds in Minecraft. Since this is a Mojang product I gathered it would be the best.Yes, it is very informative though some of the breakdowns are a little vague and not as detailed as I would have expected. My biggest 'issue' is that it should clearly state in the advert that this is not really designed for those using anything other than a PC.I have followed four recommended builds to the letter only to find three do not work. One did after I tweaked it, the other three I have attempted more than once and always following the guide - same non working result.Do not promote this sort of guide if is not meant for all and clearly PS4 doesnt benefit.

Helps you to understand Redstone use in Minecraft
These Mojang Minecraft guidebooks are great. I have collected the whole hardback set so far as I have started playing Minecraft. I find them vary helpful in getting me to understand the basics of various aspects of the game. The layout of the book is pleasing to the eye and easy to read. Not too wordy, and with plenty of pictures and diagrams to help you get the most from it. The information contained is enough to get you understanding what the game is about and how its various mechanics work, without getting too bogged down in technicalities and descriptions. These would be ideal for young children, but also helpful to us older ones. They are also made vary well, with a good hard cover and thick pages.

Great present for a Minecraft obsessed kid.
Another great book! The builds are amazing! Great ideas of what each redstone devices do. For parents who's kids love Minecraft this is a great idea as a present to keep them entertained! And it contains word. A great way to encourage positive attitudes towards reading is in a topic they enjoy!

Builds do not work on PS4
I'm pretty shocked that Mojang would bring out a guide which provides build guides that literally do not work. For example on the Mob Farm the pistol clock does not work. You add the block in the middle and at best you can get it to push the block 1 cycle around before it gets stuck.Do yourself a favor and do not buy this book; just look for builds online...they may or may not work, but at least you won't have spent money on it.

Essential reading for minecraft fans
Same words again, same opinionBought for my son, who loves this minecraft stuff :) he's really into it, and as much as I dislike the game, the guides are well written and well thought out, they inspire him to try and recreate, adapt and plan. He is good at reading but sometimes asks me how to spell things in game, or uses the book to copy words.I've got no clue, Lego was my thing when I was a young girl, as for games I'll stick to Dragon age and Deadpool :D
