Lasting Radiance Full Coverage Concealer and Eye Illuminator, SPF 25, 40 Soft Beige (Rimmel Wake Me Up Concealer Upgrade)

I am of Southeast Asian heritage, I am a MAC NW20 foundation shade, so I'm fair medium, and I actually bought this concealer in 4 different shades so far because although my bodily skin tone is really fair and pale, my face is not (because I don't wear SPF) and I have rosy cheeks as well, and so for me, it's always been a challenge finding the right colour of concealer. I have swatched the 4 colours on my hand in this picture and as you can see, the nude 050 colour is the darkest and it's orangey. Soft beige 040 is a pinkish tone, Classic beige is actually what I would consider a true ivory colour because it's yellow-based and not pink at all. Then we have the Ivory 010 which is supposedly the lightest shade, but as you can see from the swatch it really is not the lightest in the range - it actually is the same degree of lightness as Classic Beige 030, the only difference between them is that ivory is pink toned but classic beige is yellow toned. I think this is quite an important point to make because a lot of us just buy the concealers using the colours we see online, or we might go to the shop and swatch the testers on our arms, hands or wrists, and that's totally inaccurate in my case because my facial skin is more tan than the rest of my body - you can see here that although ivory or classic beige would work with my bodily skin tone better, in fact it is the nude shade that works best for my under eye area because I have quite noticeable dark eyes circles - they're not extensive nor really bad, but they are noticeable. I've tried using other orange colour correctors for my undereye area but they're either too light orange or too dark orange to work on my particular under eye circle colour. Actually the orangey Nude 050 concealer turned out to be a pretty good match for my under eye circles! Unfortunately there seems to be no good way of testing of knowing which concealer shade is best for you except to just apply it directly to the areas where you are intending to conceal... In a shop, you would probably get these as testers, but I find it quite unhygienic to put the testers directly on my under eye area, and besides I tend to go out with some makeup already on, so I can't really apply concealer on top of my makeup... so I'd rather buy all 4 tubes of different concealer colours in this range which I reckoned might work for my skin tone. I'm glad I stopped at 4 because if I went any darker than the nude, it would be way too dark for me, and I was right - after testing, I knew it was the correct shade to cover my under eye circles, which are the darkest part of my face, but for the rest of my face, actually either ivory, classic beige or soft beige would work better depending on which area I am concealing. For instance, ivory or classic beige can highlight some areas, and soft beige is good for covering some areas such as the indents on either sides of the nostrils. There are loads more concealers in the market that cost a lot more than all 4 of these concealers combined, so I didn't think it was an extravagant purchase for me. I spent a total of about £26 buying these 4 colours but this would come up to the same price as a YSL Touche Eclat concealer or a Tarte Shape Tape concealer, and now I have 4 colours that I can use on different parts of my face or body. Because our bodies and faces can comprise a few different shades, the best thing to do is I would recommend you buy a couple of these - maybe not 4 like I did -maybe you can narrow it down to 2 maybe 3, and buy these shades and try them at home on your face. They are really blendable and easy to use - I love their texture - they look smooth and matte once they're set, and don't sink into fine lines. I have a scar under my right eye that looks like a noticeable fine line, like a wrinkle, but there are no wrinkles under my eyes at all apart from this one, so for me it's very important that concealers don't cake up or sink into fine lines. This concealer is perfect. I find this concealer really easy to blend - if you want more coverage then I suggest you use a blending sponge, because if you use your fingers, it tends to blend out the concealer and lessen coverage - which is fine if that is what you want. I never put full makeup, but once in a year or something, if I get dragged to a nightclub, I would dab and blend this stuff out all over my face on top of matte face primer, then dust translucent powder all over. Looks fine, like I put foundation on. It's so blendable, light and the little iridescent flakes in it make my face more radiant.

Ice never used concealer but thought as I'm in my late 40s I'd give it a whirl. Ok so it's a nice product. I got the same colour as the foundation but this was more runny .. it did not blend like I thought.. I used it around the inner eye area to brighten and conceal and for me it just didn't do anything and also there was no radiance like the foundation. For me not a waste as such but I will probably not use this again.

I really like this concealer! It has great coverage not too thick and goes on well. For me it’s just not quite enough to last me, I tend to go through this quite quickly but that’s down to personal use. Would definitely recommend.

Helps my dark circles that are blush gray sooo much. Also use it on hubby when he wants to look nice. Brightens up the eyes nicely and I have fair skin with dark circles.

The shade Nude 050 is the perfect color correction shade for olive skin. For some reason I can no longer find this product in stores with other Rimmel products. Amazon for the win.
