My bumper is stuck!!! What a disappointment!
Neato Botvac 65: We loved this robot. Just what we wanted.Very efficient at mapping, smart, finds new areas very well, quick, and most importantly cleans well with good suction. Love the way it automatically returns to the base for charging. But our happiness died within a month. It started showing "My Bumper is Stuck" message and started climbing sofa legs. I could not get rid of it with whatever suggestions I could find online (I didn't try to open any screws, because I should not have to). Then found lot of gory stories about this bumper stuck issue and also came to know from friends that many of them returned it due to the same problem. I ran to Costco and returned mine too. As soon as I mentioned about the issue to the agent there, he immediately told me the error code... that popular this thing is. Costco is not selling this anymore. A good product with a killer defect!Just received iCLEBO Arte. Let's see how that goes. (I don't like iRobot because it's goes random)

Keeps getting stuck under sofa - How smart is this smart vacuum?
I love how methodical this vacuum is so that every spot in the house gets vacuumed. However it has a major flaw: The sensor/scanner does not appear to calculate height very well so that it keeps getting stuck under my sofa. This has caused some cosmetic damage to the aqua-color circle cap at the top of the vacuum and is incredibly annoying because it interrupts the cleaning until I am able to set it free. I wish I could just turn it on and forget about it but it is simply not the case. Still debating whether to keep or send back...

Very good but not ready for the Jetsons!
We purchased the Neato 65 in April 2015 and I wanted to give it some use before reviewing it. Unfortunately the site from which I bought it no longer lists it, so I'll write the review here. This device is used on the main floor of our house, which has hard wood, tile, carpet and area rugs. We also have a wonderful German Shepherd, who sheds year round. The instructions say to install it so that it has several feet on either side of it, which of course is very inconvenient. However I found that it fits perfectly under a tall antique pie safe. Thus it is not taking up our valuable floor space and is basically out of sight. This is NOT a replacement for regular vacuuming but does keep the tracked in dirt and dog hair "bunnies" to a minimum. I would love to use the programming features to have it run daily in the foyer and kitchen area, however that would require that I put down the boundary markers essentially permanently between the dining room and kitchen. Whilst they are not horrible, the boundary markers are not necessarily in the decorating scheme. Also I would have to keep the sliding barn-style door on our back room closed or again lay down a permanent boundary marker to keep "Ned" out of there in the daily cleaning."Ned" has a few issues dealing with our area rug in the living room and often takes a few attempts to go from the hardwood floor to the rug. Also since there is less than a foot of hardwood space between the rug and the marble fireplace flooring, he gets stuck there. Thus using "Ned" in the living requires monitoring. If I lay down the boundary marker across the divider between the living room and dining room, a rather large expanse, "Ned" will sometimes get stuck on the boundary marker tape and start dragging it along. (I purchased an extra long boundary marker tape separately.) I wish that Neato would make clear boundary markers or have a vertical system that is placed unobtrusively against walls or doorways that was detected not by having to run over it. Something that could be left permanently in place, thus availing oneself of the programming features. When "Ned" does the dining room, I find that he does a better job if the chairs are pulled away from the table so he can make a complete circle around the chair and table legs rather than improvising by bouncing around them. That being said, I like the way that "Ned" does not bang into things like I have seen in videos of Roomba. "Ned" just lightly touches walls or door etc before turning. Also the logical grid pattern seems to provide better coverage than a seemingly random bouncing around of the competitors models. The canister holds quite a bit surprisingly though if it fills up before it is finished or the battery runs out, it looks like "Ned" is leaving droppings in his wake. With all the dog hair, it is important to keep the edger brush clean and untangle the hairs from it and the beater brush as well.So all in all it is a nice gadget that augments regular vacuuming but does not free the home owner up completely. It is not (yet) a complete labour saving robot of the future but has promise.

Nice While it Lasted
I purchased my Botvac in April 2017 and have been happy with it. However, I recently have been having regular issues with it and utilized the online help to try and diagnose the issue. Support was helpful but after performing the round of testing they recommended it appears the battery needs to be replaced. While I didn't expect it to last forever, it is disappointing to spend almost $300 on a unit that needs a costly battery replacement within two years. The convenience is nice, but the cost is excessive if the units won't last. $150/year for a vacuum is too much. I'd definitely do some research on battery life before ever buying another unit.

Get a Roomba. Neato is not worth it!
I got the Botvac 65 in Malaysia and used it in Australia. After 5 months it complained about the bumper being stuck. After troubleshooting it went bonkers and still complained about the bumper. We couldn't fix it because the warranty is in Malaysia. Really regret getting a Neato. I had to spend money buying a Roomba because of the Golden Retriever. Neato might be advanced but it's not reliable. Seemed like quite a number of people faced the same issue.
