I am a professional Scroller ( have three books in print on scrollsawing )Jim Kape is a fantastic designer and Artist , and this book is very well written .Ive been wanting a quality chess set for some time , but good sets are like 3-4 hundredwith a wood board - I believe I can make a simalar quality set with board using this book .which im working on this winter ! ( using this book )I love the designs of the different sets in the book -they are gorgeous !

Got this for my husband for Christmas. He really likes it. Lot of cool sets with good directions. We may make copies before he tries to make something.

I am new to woodworking and found the instructions easy to follow. The pictures are very detailed and the text well written. The author even hives examples of wood selection and why you should use a particular type of wood. I am very excited to begin my first set!

This is the best book so far on how to make chess pieces. There are jigs for holding, chess boards and how to use the jigs.A must have!

Ordered this for my Husband for his birthday. He is a bit of a whiz with wood but has only recently started experimenting with scroll saw - wood turning being his real joy. This book is excellent. It has 15 different styles of chess sets - ranging from gothic to contemporary and even an upright set that can be fixed to a wall. I have to admit that the upright set is my favourite. You get all the patterns and instructions and of course in depth methods including photos. It also suggests wood types and details all the other materials you will need. Im really looking forward to him creating a superb chess set of his choosing and displaying it with pride ....and of course the challenge of the match as the finale.

Este libro contiene un gran número de patrones o plantillas para hacer figuras de ajedrez. A demás de un gran numero de explicaciones muy detalladas que van acompañadas de muchas fotos.No hace falta saber ingles para sacarle partido a este libro.

Muy completo, con muchos comentarios, fotografías y planos. Muy didáctico y a su vez muy técnico.Recomendado para toda clase de publico.

Les modèles proposés ne sont pas terribles... A part les patrons, ça manque d'explications... Je ne le conseillerai pas sauf pour les jolies photos...

Have read this back to front several times just need to get the timber to try it out. Instructions are clear but what I love is that I started to have ideas of my own on what I could design myself.
