I had no idea this useful product existed!
We take several road trips each year. Blue Ice packs work during and on the return trip if the hotel has a freezer. But too often that is not the case. One thing all hotels have is an ice machine. I received these just in time for our most recent trip. I did not give the double-duty use of the cold water from the melted ice enough weight. That feature ended up working nicely to fill our stainless steel water bottles at night and allowed me to preserve more bottled water for the drive home. We had leftovers from a restaurant on the last evening. I took a small lunchbox size cooler on this trip. I repackaged the leftovers in ziplocks in the limited space. They were nice and cold from the hotel room refrigerator when I packed them. I could only fill the ice bags about 3/4 full of ice to fit in this small lunch bag with all the food. I placed one ice bag on the bottom and one on top. I did not open the bag on the drive to preserve the temperature inside. It was a tall order for a lunch bag on a 9 hour trip. When I removed the food it felt cold and was immediately placed in the refrigerator. I checked the temperature of the now melted ice bags, it ranged between 49 and 54 degrees. While that is too warm, food can still be safe if only at this temperature for 2 hours. I felt confident that this was the case. We ate the pizza slices, eggplant parmesan sub, and Fettuccine Alfredo the next day and it tasted every bit as good as the first night we enjoyed it! I used these ice bags for five days straight. Each day there was no ice left after about 8 hours but the water was nice and cold. These are well made, sturdy, seal well and I experienced no leaks. This is a great find, a great buy, good quality, good design and solves a recurring problem. I had no idea that there was such a great solution available. I will purchase another set as I typically take a larger cooler on our road trips.

Don't leave home without these in your ice chest!
What a wonderful idea! Highly recommend! These bags have been ideal for road trips. No more having to drain the ice chest every time I add ice. We don't buy as much bottled water on trips as the design of these bags makes it super easy to use the melted ice water for a refreshing cold drink. In fact, we know these bags were worth every penney and have paid for themselves as we use them to refill water bottles and jugs with cold, filtered water (ice machines use filtered water). We recommend these to all of our friends who use ice chests. Our family members who enjoy car camping have loved receiving these bags as gifts. Pretty much every time we use these bags we comment on what a great design idea they are. After many road trips, these bags still work great.

This product delivers his promised
I have to admit that I was a bit dubious when I purchased these ice bags. I have a tiny freezer that doesn't allow me the room to store ice packs. Living in a sprawling area where shopping may take you five or six different places in or six little towns, I set out to do my shopping and sometimes it's an all-day event and I can't always plan my stops in the order of refrigeration needs. When I saw these online I decided to purchase them with high hopes. I've had them for a few months and just used them for the first time yesterday, hot August afternoon in South Carolina. I was extremely surprised when at the end of my 6-hour day out, having bought my produce on my first stop to put in my cooler, that the ice was still frozen pretty solidly only having melted slightly. The product is very easy to use, it seals very well with no leakage and has a handle for easy carrying. When finished I emptied the bag and set it in my dish drain with the bottom open and it dried within a couple of hours. So I give this product five stars and would recommend it to anybody especially someone has limited freezer space. It's also a good product to have during Hurricane Season should you have to pack a cooler to evacuate. As the ice melts you have fresh water to drink, a win-win for that purpose. One bag held an entire tray of ice from my ice maker. If someone had the room in another freezer it would be a good idea to put ice in these and keep them Frozen for emergency use.

Bit overpriced but great product!
Been debating buying this for a bit for a camping trip that we have to fly to next year (hesitation due to the price). We will have very limited space for things but will have a smallish collapsible cooler that we store 1-2 days worth of food in. Decided to go ahead and get it to test out for a home state camping trip and we loved it! It worked exactly as intended and we had ice cold water as needed. It will fill about 2-3 32oz water bottles completely melted. It says it holds 5lbs of ice. It can also be filled with water and then frozen solid - so can do that or put ice cubes in it and it came with a spare cap which I appreciated. We had no issues with it over a 3 day camping trip in 85-90 days (Coleman cooler) all ice was melted by morning of day 3 but still ice cold. They are made out of all plastic with a plastic piece that slides across the top to seal it and has a plastic cap. I do like that they fold down flat. Great for storing/traveling with little space. My only discrepancy would be that I definitely think they are charging too much. I paid about $23 for the 2- large ones. Holds 5-lbs supposedly - I did not pay attention to the lbs I was able to fit in as I used cubes from our freezer in one and we put water and froze the other. I personally think it should be more so around the $15 range as it is just plastic and they will eventually need to be replaced . These bags are a thicker more durable plastic than a ziploc bag of course but eventually with repeated use, normal wear and tear give out/get a hole in them.

Keeps everything cool and dry in your cooler bag, and you get to keep the water!
These bags are a great way to keep everything dry in my cooler bag, while keeping everything ice cold and recover the ice as drinking water in the end! I received 2 bags as per description, well packaged and ready to go, with plenty of instructions. I filled mine with ice from my own freezer, and - granted - you do need a fairly large cooler bag to fit these in. The zipper is a little difficult to get together right the first time, but I followed the instructions, and now it's second nature: fold the handle back, so it's easy to align the two sides; pinch the zipper at every inch or so together; you must hear the "click click click" noise! Then in the end, squeeze the zipper end to end with two fingers to make sure it's all closed. THAT will seal it. Also, don't forget to let out the extra air by setting down the bag, opening the spigot and squeeze the air out. Close the spigot, and off it goes into the cooler. I saw some confusion in other reviews: this bag is not meant to keep the ice from melting; it is not meant to store your food inside of it; what this bag does is 1) store your ice and exchange the cool inside to the cooler bag, and 2) collect the water as ice melts so that you can drink/use it in the end. It does both things very well. For fun I left the bag out on the counter once just to watch some condensation (I know, fun) but I did measure the temperature and the bag sides get pretty cold, so it really performs per design. Would I improve few things? Maybe. But overall, it's a great product, with good quality and at a great price.

This is Great!!
This is an update. I am just back from another trip using this ice bag. I have medication that must be kept cold. I filled the bag at 8 am at my hotel and put it along with the medication. I emptied the water at 1 pm, before heading to the airport. It passed through TSA without a glance by them. Got home around 9:30 pm, with still some ice cubes and cold water in the bag. Also not a single drop leaked from the bag. I put the medication in a zip lock bag, but there was no need for that. This is a perfect solution!! I am about to go on a road trip, and I need to bring along medicine that requires refrigeration. I got these and tested them by filling it with water and sealing it according to the instructions. Perfect, not a single leak! This will be perfect loading up on hotel ice on the road. Plus supplying cold water and cooling my road food. They packed a spare valve - nice touch! Also the owner just texted me making sure it will work for me. A company really caring about their customers and products!

More like leak resistant …
Bottom line: - Not leakproof, more like leak resistant. The bags need to be completely flat with handle totally undisturbed to prevent leaking. So for a tightly packed cooler or fridge, expect minor leaks. Pros: 1) Less water in the cooler or fridge and thus less hassle with after-melt cleanup; 2) water conservation: enables drinking or cooking with the melt water; 3) bag handles facilitate transport of ice, about 5 lbs ice per bag; and 4) durable plastic suggests it should last several trips. Cons: 1) Water has a very high specific heat which means it stabilizes temperatures very well; so the absence of melt water throughout the cooler means more temperature variation among its contents; (2) the bags do leak despite carefully following the instructions (fold and slide handle in one direction, do not fill ice above fill line, etc. So a more accurate description IMHO is “leak resistant” versus “leakproof” in real-world conditions (I.e., tightly packed cooler); 3) the rigid handles limit the bag’s ability to conform in tight spaces. For example, when filled with its maximum of 5 lbs of ice, this bag did not fit inside a Yeti 45 cooler. Minor quibble. We received two versions. One had clearly printed instructions on the handle and bag, the other two did not. Adding those instructions was a good product design upgrade, as it ensured optimum leak resistance. Thoughts. These probably work better in traditional larger rectangular coolers like the venerable Igloo brand. For highly perishable items, I’m thinking the trade off between convenience (melt water capture) may come at the expense of faster spoilage, especially on a multi-day trip. Where these bags did come in handy was packing our marine refrigerator on a 4-day trip. Four bags reduced compressor cycling and thus conserved batteries between charging. And not having lots of melt water in the refrigerator is a huge plus. That said, some of the bags did leak, some more than others, but not more than 5-10% of its capacity. Capturing the melt water was a plus too, which we used for washing dishes, flushing the marine toilet, etc. Our marine fridge has a drain and manual foot pump to remove the little water that did accumulate so leakage was not a huge issue. Bottom line. These bags did not work as intended for our Yeti 45, but we did find use for our marine refrigerator (reduced cycling, conserve batteries). Had I not found a use for them in our marine fridge, I would have returned them for refund.

Perfect for travel!
Bought these for our national parks trip. I wanted something that would pack into our check-in luggage and we could re-use in our cooler for 2 weeks exploring Yellowstone, Glacier & Grand Tetons. These are high quality plastic bags that hold a good amount of ice. We simply refilled ice each morning at our park resort (free ice machine) and tackled the day. Ice retention depends on the cooler you use (the bag itself is not insulated) but there was zero leakage, kept the items in our cooler cold and dry. As the ice melted, we were able to pour and drink the water out of the built-in spout. Nothing better than returning to your car after a long hike or hot day with ice cold water. I washed with sopa and water, air-dry and store for another use. I expect these lasting for a while. Worth the price.
