If It Isn't Broken Don't Fix It
I really hate to give this book a 3-star rating. Eye Witness travel guides traditionally have been informative, beautiful, and durable. As such, they easily earn 5 stars. This edition is still informative for the traveler to Cambodia and Laos, whether you are actually going there or just want an armchair journey. However, in an effort to reduce the weight of their guides, the publisher has gone to a flimsy cover and uncoated paper. The result is a book where the quality of the illustrations is greatly diminished and how well the book will hold up to extensive handling on a trip is very questionable. It still is a useful publication but has over fifty pages less information. Coverage of hotels, restaurants, and the local culture has all been greatly reduced. Perhaps the publisher in the future might consider two separate editions, one light weight for those who feel that is a travel essential, and a second with the traditional cover and paper along with more in depth coverage.

Deeply disappointed
I am a great fan of DK Travel Books. High quality paper and printing, great photographs and illustrations and useful background (historical) information. So when I took delivery of this book, I was shocked at the quality of the product. Very cheap looking with poor quality paper and printing. Huge let down. In future, I will first see their book in a bookshop before purchasing one.

Substantial Drop in DK Guide Quality
Unlike earlier editions of DK guides, this new paperback replacement may be lighter but is inferiorily bound on very thin and poor paper, and the printing is more like a cheap paperback edition of a hardback book with very poor colour prints. It is not of the high standard we have come to know from DK and I would be hesitant about buying their guides in the future.

Poor quality of new DK guide editions
We have been buying DK guides for years and these new editions are horrible!! Bad print quality, paper is cheap and generally are not robust enough to carry on our trips. Will have to look for a new travel guide supplier
