Amati#1355 Hannah Ship-In-A-Bottle Kit, 1/300 Scale

I purchased this for my friend who has made many ship models and people are in awe as to what he does...however this little thing has been a nightmare....he is still as work on it. Frustrated but having fun.

I bought this as a gift for my husband and he absolutely loved it. A little more detail then what the advertisement explains, but well worth the money.

Got this as a gift, and have been working on it for weeks. The instructions are complex and not written in proper English, and many times, you have to guess at what they're asking you to do. The pieces are small and difficult to assemble (as expected), but the amount of sanding you have to do leads me to believe you didn't need as many pieces as they ask you to glue together. Nothing fit together well, and the metal pieces are very fragile. Eventually, even being as careful as I could, pieces started breaking off, I was compensating piece after piece and things stopped lining up, and I just gave up. I'm an engineer and a woodworker, so if it was THIS hard for me, I can't imagine anyone non-expert level being able to assemble this model successfully. I'm so disappointed that I dedicated this many hours in a project that never came to fruition. Will never buy this brand again, but I will eventually get my ship in a bottle!

Don't buy this model. The bottle sent with the kit in 2020 is too small for the model to sit up straight: the ship on its stand is 3.6 inches tall. The exterior dimensions of the bottle supplied is 2.8 inches tall and 3.6 inches wide. Besides pieces not fitting together (common amongst models), the thread provided is too thick for the holes in the chains at the base of the shrouds. Drilling required. Worse is the printed sail patterns provided. They are brown, fuzzy and too small for the model, not at all like the sails look like in the photos. The model has a variety of attractive brass pieces, but with the small bottle and sail patterns I recommend not purchasing this product.
