STANLEY Tool Set, Home/Mechanics, 65 Piece (94-248)

I got this to use while I'm in college because it's easy to transport when I move and has the essential items. It is a very versatile kit of good quality, especially for the price. The tools take a little more care to put in the case in a way that prevents them from falling out (have to press hard to get them to snap in securely), but once I did, everything stayed in place. Some of the screw driver heads are a little tight and I would have preferred them to be easier to remove from the screwdriver handle, but they still do the job. The flathead and Phillips screw drivers are magnetic, the individual removable heads are not. I used it to assemble a dresser and it worked very well. I bought this as a Christmas present for my father to put in his vehicle for emergency use. My father owns hundreds of tools, and I have seen the Stanley brand here and there around the house. So when I found this, I knew it would make a great Christmas gift. It includes a tape measure, a hammer, a screwdriver, and leveler, a box cutter, and many more tools to use, It comes with a plastic carrying case which would look like it would wear down after so many uses. It's currently tight to take out and place tools back in so we will have to see how long it would last. Overall, it has many of the necessary tools that you would need, especially the different types of bits for the Drive Bit holder. The tools look extremely well made and look like tools that will last a long time since steel is usually a good material to use.. I am glad I made this purchase and would consider buying my own tool kit of the exact kind. I have read the older reviews stating how it had a screw in the actual case to prevent it from being opened. The company has read the reviews because the product I received had a small zip tie instead of the screw. If anything faulty happens down the line, I will update my review. This is an excellent, simple toolset to have on-hand for simple projects. The tools are plenty durable and are more than adequate for my needs. I find it very convenient to have a carrying case for the items in this kit, notably the hammer, tape measure, pliers, wrench, level and knife. I could have purchased all of these tools separately, but then I would have been forced to throw them all in a drawer somewhere. The case makes it much easier to find exactly what I need, and to NOT lose the tools after a few weeks. If something goes missing, then I know exactly what to look for and don't give up until I find it! This reason alone makes the utility of the carrying case priceless. Highly recommended!

It’s okay - make sure you know what you need and that this has everything you might want. It didn’t quite fit our needs but we went with it anyway. The tools are good quality but everything always falls out of the case. Good value for the money and gets you a basic toolset.

I read the reviews before I bought this for my son who was purchasing his first home. The reviews complaining that the pieces don’t stay in their places are ridiculous. I guess you have to be smarter than the tool to ensure it is snapped into place before closing up the case (sometimes you have to push hard to snap it into its place). My son is not a fix-it type guy so this is a great little tool kits to have handy for he or his wife-to-be and will be great for any day needs. In moving them into their house and installing some shelves and new faucets, we used absolutely everything in this box with no problem whatsoever. Everything functioned beautifully and I am very pleased I got this toolbox for them!

What I love most about this kit is that is=t comes with two of the most commonly used screwdrivers (flat and Philips), where you don't need to add a tip to the handle. I use these two the most, but when I need a different size, I still have those available to me. It's a complete set, so after more than 5 years, everything that I have ever needed was already in the kit. The only negative is that sometimes it's hard to snap the hex keys or the bits into place. I might put them in the correct location but when I open up the kit the next time, sometimes they are floating around in the case (not the individual pieces, but as a group). It's a minor nuisance and not worth subtracting a star.

Over the years, I've always tried to keep a small toolbox handy in the house, and I'll keep a selection of tools there for basic needs. The problem is this - over time tools tend to get lost or dispersed around the house, at least they do if we aren't diligent in returning them to the toolbox after use. Tools end up in drawers in the kitchen or elsewhere in the house or garage or tool shed, and then when the time comes and we need a screwdriver, it's not where we think it should be. This reasonably priced took kit is one solution to that problem. It includes most of the commonly used tools for many household needs, they all fit into the tool kit in an organized way, and since each tool has a pre-determined place, if you neglect returning the tool after use, it's immediately obvious. I particularly like that this includes a small level, always handy especially when moving or adjusting clothes washer and dryer or other appliances. It's not everything that I like to keep on hand - I also keep at least one Vise-Grip Locking Pliers handy, as well as a medium sized Crescent Wrench and probably also a Channellock Plier . I've also purchased several sets like this Craftsman Slotted Phillips Screwdriver Set, 8 Piece over the years from Sears, with various combinations of screwdrivers that are always handy. Which is to say that there isn't any tool kit that will satisfy all needs, but this particular one is a nice starting point.

I got this tool set for my fiancé's birthday, and as soon as he saw it, he was extremely happy! Some tools did fall out of their places during the shipping process, which made me think the shippers really tossed this thing around because when we put the tools back, you could tell that they were very secure in their places. He loved the quality of the tools and that they were oiled up and ready for whenever he needed to use them. He was really excited that it came with the ratchet driver, which was something I specifically looked for because he originally wanted just a ratchet driver by itself for his birthday. This has everything he needs and wants, and he couldn't stop thanking me for it. He even showed it off to his brother, whom he just got tools for for his birthday. Haha! I'm very happy with this purchase I made, and I know my fiancé is, too! I highly recommend this to anyone looking for a good quality tool set in a good quality case that will last!
