Fantastic book
I purchased this for my teenage son who is collecting the whole set. The quality is top notch, but this book did get some spine damage during shipping, nothing to major, but to a collector it is mildly frustrating. Please do a better job of securing your packaging.

You like DnD? I LOVE DND
Sadly, Not everyone has friends to play with, and this book is kinda about that. Still Pretty Good Story, character development, a lot of funny gap moe. What is not to like? well, dealing with lonelyness is not easy Socially stunted individuals. But hey, there is hope your old friends might come back.

Best Fantasy Novel 2016
Overlord finds itself as the latest entry in the growing field of trapped in a game world series. YenON publishes other series of this type (Log Horizon, Sword Art Online, No Game No Life), so fans of their books will easily find themselves at home here. What sets this one apart is that instead of having a lead who provides all the solutions to ever problem with his epic skills as the fated human, we have a big bad raid dungeon boss of an undead variety who has no other allies except the ones he created who faces the challenge of trying to spread his guilds name while trying to be somewhat human. Easily he ranks high up on the list for leads that actually kill characters and at times one wonders if he is an antagonist but I think he stays somewhat human. This makes the book very interesting. The writing starts off a bit slow with little to no conflict provided beyond just detailing the world, but that sort of mystery provides the intrigue to keep people interested. Why is Satoru Suzuki trapped in this world? Are there are other humans here? How does this world have elements of Yggdrasil in it? Will the guardians of the floors turn back on him ever? All this and more are things that kept my interest and will keep my interest in the series. The cast is filled with great characters who have many rich interactions with each other and with the lead character. I cant wait for more time with many of them.Easily this is the best fantasy book of this year thus far.Quality wise, excellent paper choice chosen for this hardcover book helped to enhance the great colored artwork on the pages. so-bin has great art and the style works well with the paper choice, it truly feels like a ornate tome you'd find in any medieval setting. There were about four noticeable grammar typos though. Minor but noticeable.

Amazing story, character, & SAO type genre
I loved the anime since it aired, read the novel online, and decided to support Japanese light novel series written by Kugane Maruyama and illustrated by so-bin by purchasing this work of theirs. I absolutely love the cover and the artworks that are in this volume. The characters are complex with their own personalities growing and developing more as the story progresses.[ In the year 2126, a Dive Massively Multiplayer Online Role Playing Game or DMMORPG called Yggdrasil was released. It stands out among all other DMMORPG's due to its unusually high ability for the player to interact with the game. After an intense 12-year run the game servers are about to be shut down. Within the game exist a guild, Ainz Ooal Gown, once consisting of 41 members and credited as one of the strongest guilds in the game. Now only 4 of the members remain, the other 37 having quit the game. Of those 4 only one actually continues to play; Momonga, the guild leader, maintains their headquarters, The Great Tomb of Nazarick. He invites the remaining guild members but of those only one appears and only for a short while before leaving. While saddened by this, he accepts the reality that his friends had their real lives to take care of. And so, he stays in the guild alone until the servers shut down. Then, he realizes that the game does shut down and he cannot seem to use the normal player function, such as General Message, or even quit. Then when the NPC's of Ainz Ooal Gown start talking to him he decides to take things seriously and find out if anyone from 'the real world' is also in this new world with him. Taking on the name of Ainz Ooal Gown, a message to any other players, he begins exploring the world. He tries to figure out what has happened while trying to find anyone, or anything, that could help him solve this mystery. ]I would definitely recommend this to my friends who love anime and this type of genre.

An excellent book
I love the detail in the light novel. It explains and expresses characters and events more precisely and it becomes more lively when read in text. The anime was a blast to binge through, and i can safely say the same for the LN.

Worldbuilding redefined
The story, characters and worldbuilding are top-notch. It's a meticulously crafted world, that's balanced via D&D formulas. There are NO PLOTHOLES. And in the middle of it, an office-worker is placed, who has to act as an OP evil demon overlord - to try to survive another day. Hilarity ensues! Also a lot of exploration of the world and its mechanics. Most of the book is very dense in content. Short off-handed remarks in the middle of a sentence are precursors to important events, mechanics or places later in the book or several books later. The characters are well fleshed-out, and in the following books they get introspected further. The main character is funny, especially with the mismatch of his intentions and their outcomes. The whole package is so good, that the anime adaptation received a second season and immediately after that - a third season. By an anime studio that almost never makes a second season.

Love this story
I first watched the Anime version and loved it so much I still keep watching it and each time connect more dots. After reading the web stories I finally came across the light novels.Fantastic read, and covers a lot of internal viewpoints that you miss watching the Anime, and explains some of the finer points of character development.Definitely worth the read and even having the Kindle versions, I still brought the books!Looking forward to how the story will unfold!

Very good read and nicely done illustrations
I think this book is a very good and entertaining read with great and detailed descriptions but does require me to use the dictionary as the words and phrases used are not ones you would typically come across in fictionally boobs and seems to be aimed at readers who 15 years and older.

fantasy, man stuck in a online game as a un-dead character.
loved it it is not SAO great characters and plot development made me laugh and entertained me greatly, have bought all the books and lets just say its a great ride and the main character is just a normal bloke in a crazy situation and does well to translate this to the reader, great translation from Japanese, just really fun book and if you like magic adventure and the typical slap stick and happy go lucky everything works out for the best, with serious undertones recommend it from the bottom of my heart looking forward to more from this author.

Perfect for those who love world building
I personally found it a bit slow at times, but very enjoyable nonetheless. Especially with these amazing and engaging characters. It's a cool book and it's fun to follow the evil characters and find out how they feel and what beliefs they have.
