Excellent quality
Great pencil to use with students who have challenges with light pencil pressure. The soft graphite shows up nicely even with light pressure. Love this as accommodation - occupational therapy

For my own purposes I probably would have done fine with a 4B (since I usually buy Derwent
Top quality pencil. For my own purposes I probably would have done fine with a 4B (since I usually buy Derwent, and Staedtler "B" pencils seem to me to be softer than the same numbered Derwent version). I like both brands, but Staedtler does seem of superior quality. Very happy with my purchase.

As a fine art painter
As a fine art painter, I tried many brands of graphite pencils. I like these because they don't feel "dry" and because the leads don't seem to break (like the other brands), even when you occasionally drop them.
