Works well
So there was a debacle on my end and I ended up buying two of these and I’m not mad about it. One on my shotgun and one for a rifle. Oh yeah and the cherry on top is that this model gets you free batteries from crimson when you register it with them. Win win

Can be used on pistol or rifle
I know that CT says that it is for rifles but you can take the rail mount off (2 Allen screws) and mount it right on a compatible mount plate on a pistol. It is a little larger than a micro sight but it has a larger field of view screen also. I used a dovetail mount on my G34 and it fits tight. Only issue that I had was sighting it in. I used a bore sight laser and I could never get the two dots to match. I turned the height adjustment screw all of the way up and it was still a little low. Probably on an MOS factory gun it would match just right due to it sitting lower. The dot is very bright, even on a sunny day. I had no trouble acquiring it and actually turned it down a few settings. It turns on by hitting either of the brightness buttons and turns off my holding either button for 4 seconds. I would prefer a “shake on” type but that also comes with a higher price tag. This sight is good for the money and I really like that the battery compartment is on the side of the sight so you don’t have to remove the sight from the mount to change the battery like many of the other ones. CT even offers free batteries for life if you register your sight and a 3 year warranty. I would recommend the sight for everyday shooting. A decent sight for a decent price.

I Don't Get Why This is $200+???
The red dot looks like 3-4 smaller red dots combining to make a larger red dot. On top of that, no matter if I one or two eye there's rays of light coming from the dot... no adjustment gets rid of this. On top of that, the unit only reliably works with the brightest red dot if I put the battery holder in half way! When the battery compartment is in, the light dims slightly sometimes or, once I turn it off, I can't turn it back on. What in the world?! I'm no gun sight expert, believe me, but I've looked through a few other red dots and the dot was crisp without reflections and without weird issues right out of the box. I bought this because CT is having a rebate where you can get a laser for free. Never mind that, I'll just get something that has at least ONE YouTube review NOT from someone with a Crimson Trace business card and/or wearing a shooting shirt that says Crimson Trace on it. Sad really that CT puts their name on this.

Not worth the money.
For the money it's so so. I've bought cheap Wish sights for junk guns that do better. You can see the laser dot fine but also the reflection of the laser diode just below it.

high profile
Manufacturer claims this is 'low profile', but on a S&W mp9 "core" it would not allow use of factory suppressor height sights, which cannot be seen over the deck of this RDS. Also, it is slightly longer than a Vortex Venom, so a milled slide must allow that.
