Extra oomph for movie fans
Bought this after watching the movie and wanted to know more about the story's setting. I love the writer's style of narrative. Sardonic humor at its best.

Now this is treat for any Battle Angel fan!
Are you sad that the movie didn’t last at lease 10 hours? (I know I am!) Do you want more? Well look no further. This book will ease the pain while we wait for our sequel. Personally, I enjoy every character in Alita: Battle Angel, this book provides back stories to almost all of them. I’m still going through it slowly so it lasts as long as possible before I have to just wait for the sequel; which I’m very confident we’ll get. Keep supporting the movie by purchasing it’s merchandise and spreading positive word of mouth! Don’t forget to buy the Blu-ray when it comes out in May. Oorah battle angels!

Recommended, definitely pick it up
Highly recommended! It's a fun read, expands the universe, gives something to enjoy while waiting for the next movie to come out :)

Just what I was looking for to give more depth to the movie.
I bought this book after seeing Alita twice at the local Imax. I wanted to know more about this fascinating world, and this book didn't disappoint. Filled in a lot of the backstory for central characters in the movie, including Chiren, Ido, Hugo and Vector. This is my all time favorite movie, and I wanted to know more. The book gave me more. Well written and interesting.

Interesting Preview
I was surprised this book had nothing to do with the Alita cyborg. That was disappointing, but the overall story wasn't too bad. It just didn't seem to have a point.

Not nearly as good as the Alita battle angel movie novelization written by this same author
This felt slapped together. Characters are introduced and made to seem important, and then there is nothing more about them to add to the story. Hugo was portrayed like an emo, idiotic sissy, instead of streetwise kid he is in the movie/manga/ movie novelization. I felt as if chunks of story was missing. For example, Dr. I do is mentioned to have made an arm for nurse Gerhad (who recently lost her real arm) and that he was going to go visit her in the hospital, but then several chapters later, all of a sudden she’s working for him. I felt as if I was reading a crappy cliffs notes version of what this prequel novel should have been. During the entire time I was reading this, important story threads were completely forgotten or written so poorly that they became boring. If I had read this book before seeing Alita Battle Angel, I would not have been sold on seeing the movie. The characters were blah in this, and THAT should not be. The MANGA IS full of heart! The movie has tons and tons of heart. The movie novelization has a bit of heart. This has none.
