Flawless, I Run This All Afternoon with NO Dropouts
I use this on an Altec-Lansing speaker unit that has the 30-pin plug, design for you to sit your old iPhone or iPod on it. That unit sounds really good with its subwoofer so I hated losing the ability to use it with the new iPhones. Popping on the CoolStream is now a dream come true. Connects right up and does what it's supposed to. You will need one of the older 30-pin cables to charge this unit off of any USB port or even the Apple charger, but if you don't have one of those older cables laying around, you can pretty much find those in the impulse aisles for 5 bucks in every store from Walgreens to Ace Hardware, they're all over the place. One thing I want to mention: I had a problem one day where the music would cut out and come back on every 3 seconds or so. That happened with another BluTooth adapter I tried, I thought it was the adapter. Not so, it's the BAD memory management in the iPhone. They only come with 1GB ram, and often most of that gets used up. I have an app that shows available ram and it's usually down to 6-10MB available (not a typo) with only a few apps open. So I cleared my memory, tried playing music again and it worked fine all afternoon. So if you have that issue, close your apps, but the important one is to close ALL PAGES in Safari before you close Safari. If you just swipe up Safari to close it, all of your open web pages stay in memory and eat it up. I'm pretty ticked, $950 for an iPhone 6 Plus with 128GB storage and STILL only 1GB ram? ASpple has no excuse and it's not like they can't afford to up the ram in these things. ANYWAY, this CoolStream is awesome and make sure you have apps closed down once you start streaming with BT and it'll work great.

Great way to connect your smartphone to an iPod Classic dock
I highly recommend this product! Here's why. For over three years, I had been using my iPod Classic with a Bose SoundDock Portable both to relax in the evening and as my morning alarm clock. After several years of faithful service, my iPod Classic stopped working, so I went to Best Buy to find a replacement. Unfortunately, Apple no longer manufactures the iPod Classic, nor any version of the iPod which uses the 30-pin connector that the Bose SoundDock Portable requires. I contacted Bose's customer service department, and the representative with whom I spoke asked if I owned a smartphone. I replied that I had a Samsung Galaxy S5. Bose's customer support representative suggested that I purchase a Bluetooth adapter for the SoundDock Portable and that I use my smartphone's music player as a replacement for my now defunct iPod Classic. He cautioned me, however, to shop carefully for the Bluetooth adapter, as there were several on the market, many of whom were not very good. I did as I was instructed, and found the CoolStream Duo. The CoolStream Duo is very easy to use; just plug it in. My Samsung Galaxy S5 paired with the adapter without any problems, and the standard music player app on the S5 works great. The alarm clock function on the clock app also works. I did have to upgrade the micro SD card I was using with my S5 to one that is large enough to hold my entire music collection, which is greater than 80GB. Even so, I now have the functionality of my old IPod Classic for less than half of what it would have cost to replace it. I also tested the CoolStream Duo with a Klipsch iGroove SXT iPod docking station that I use for travel. Again, it worked flawlessly. Hence, I will be purchasing a second CoolStream Duo for traveling. If you need to replace an iPod Classic, you can't go wrong with the CoolStream Duo and a Bluetooth-capable smartphone.

Best yet!
I have one of the original Sounddocks purchased in 2006, with a serial number starting with 0357. After the 30-pin connectors went by the wayside, I purchased numerous iPod, iPhone, and bluetooth adapters to keep the Sounddock going during periods of its use. Recently we moved to a new house and I set it up in a workout room. When I connected the most recent bluetooth adapter that I had purchased a year or two ago, it was dead. I ordered another bluetooth adapter on Amazon, but the sound quality was terrible (low hum) and it beeped with every track change. I returned it and purchased the CoolStream. The CoolStream's sound quality is excellent with no distortion. The bluetooth connection is easy, and it remains connected. The Sounddock's remote will only change the volume, which has been my experience with other bluetooth devices. I have read that Sounddocks in my serial number series have issues with many bluetooth adapters, this is not the case with the CoolStream. The CoolStream works great and sounds great! I use it with an iPhone 11 and I recommend that you keep the volume on your iPhone at the max, and control volume on the Sounddock for maximum sound quality. I can't speak to battery life, since I only use it on the Sounddock. I do slide the CoolStream's switch to the right when not in use, as recommended to preserve the life of the battery.

Pretty good with decent audio that should satisfy most ears.
Decided to go bluetooth after my last OS update on my iphone 5 which seemed to have disabled my audio out through the lightning port (at least in my car. It works at home through my computer and stereo). Did some research on line and found other people had the same issue. The fixes were all mixed so I decided to find another route, which was to go bluetooth. With a little research I chose the Coolstream adapter and so far, it's nice product that works pretty good. Works with my in car pioneer stereo which has a 30 pin dock connector. The sound is not as crisp or full as a direct connection but it's pretty good. I do have to turn up my stereo louder with the pioneer audio volume control (And yes audio is turned up all the way up on my iphone), so I do get some hiss. It's not noticeable when the music is playing but when there is no sound it's there...not annoying or anything but there is some background hiss. I may have to adjust volume on my iphone and just turn the volume louder on the pioneer head unit to seem if I can eliminate more of the hiss. But it's not really a bother when I'm listening to talk radio or music. The device itself seems a little light and not incredibly durable...at least it doesn't seem that way. But overall it should last as long as one is careful. Overall it's a convenient option until I can figure how to restore audio through the lightning port to 30 pin wired connection. It's bluetooth so I am aware of the audio compression limitations. But the sound is pretty good and the connection is easy and steady with no dropouts. Overall a good product that gets the job done.

Excellent - does exactly what it says it does
Arrived promptly. It included the "converter" and the plug in cord pictured. It does exactly what it says it does. It converted my old Bose SoundDock from 30 pin technology to Blue Tooth technology. Since I'm not a tech guy this is what it means (to me at least). If you have an old Bose Sound Dock and you want to play music you can't simply slide your i-phone into the male receptor - it doesn't fit. So you have a couple options - buy a pin converter which converts the 30 pins to 8 pins which is what is needed to be compatible with the newer i-phones or you can purchase a Bluetooth Adapter such as this one. This is incredible easy to use. You snap it in to the Bose dock and flip the switch to the left. Don't forget your Bose Sound Dock needs to be "on". So this likely means it needs to be plugged in. Next step is turn your i-phone on, click on the i-con "Settings" (this is the i-con that looks like a gear, is typically gray, and has the word "settings" underneath. Next click on the word Bluetooth and toggle the switch to "on". Hold your phone next to the Bluetooth adapter and your phone will "sync" with the adapter. Under "my devices" - "cool stream" should appear and after a little time say "connected". Once done go to your music and play a song, or list, or album as you usually would. The sound should now come out of your Sound Dock. Note - it is my understanding each time you wish to play music in this format you need to repeat this process. It takes me all of 15-20 seconds. In any case, the product has worked perfectly so far. It does exactly what it says. It's easy to use even if you are clueless like me. The greatest opportunity for improvement for the makers of this device is to mark the on / off switch as it is unmarked. However once you realize that to the left is on (which I think is fairly standard) you will likely not forget.

CoolStream Duo Work. Saved My Old Bose SoundDock From Being Sold
I rarely leave reviews (lazy mainly) and I purchase a fair amount of products to know good from bad. So for me to take the time to submit a review means the product really must be as good as it was portrayed. I have two Bose SoundDocks - one wired and one a rechargeable system - but both were the old 30-pin connector and since moving to new phones with the Ligthning connector, using these speakers was awkward. I purchased one of the Apply 30-pin to Lightning cables but while it did work, it felt awkward at best to use. I was ready to ditch the speakers and started looking at newer Bluetooth speakers, when it suddenly occurred to me to see if 30-pin Bluetooth adapters existed (as if I should ever have doubted it). I found two that seemed to be the best value based on ratings, cost etc. In the end I decided to go with the Coolstream Duo, although I was concerned about some reviews stating the distance the phone could be from the adapter was very limited, but I figured I could work around that. Anyway, moving on to the real point of the review. Simply put, the product works, and works well. Plugged it into the SoundDock, turned it on, enabled Bluetooth on my phone, located Coolstream and pressed Connect. That simple. In seconds, music was playing out of the speaker. I live in a two-story townhouse, and I went to the furthest point on the second floor and put about 30 feet (direct-line) between me and the CoolStream. My wife downstairs stated the music never missed a beat. I feel like the cost of this adapter basically allowed these old SoundDocks to have a second lease on life - I think I saw the Bose smile (honest!). I hate disposing of something that is still useful just because another technology has moved on. I already own Bluetooth headset, so I have not tested that functionality and cannot comment on it, but that was not a selling point for me. I have an after-market harness I had installed in my car so I could use my old 30-pin iPod through my car sound-system. I plugged the CoolStream into the harness cable, and my phone played music perfectly; again no more having to be connected to the Apple adapter cable. The CoolStream works, price point is just right. Not much else to say, except I will be ordering a second one so I can leave it in the car.

A Great Handy-Dandy Gadget for Those Of Us With Older Apple Docks
This little thing is a gem! It works great on my older iHome Clock Radio which has the old school Apple docking connector. It works great with this clock radio. It's nice to be able to use the dock again and not have to go with the wired audio input anymore. In fact, I like it better than the old way because I can enjoy my music through the clock radio while still being able to check things on my phone. If it were sitting in the dock, that would be hard to do - if not impossible. A neat little perk is the fact that this thing has a battery built into it which charges while connected to a dock. It also has a headphone jack. This will basically turn any wired headphones into Bluetooth headphones. While in battery/portable mode, I was able to pair it with my Amazon Fire TV box and watch TV wirelessly with headphones. The only thing to note is that you will need to control the volume from the streaming device or the headphone. This unit does not have volume control on it - but that's not a big deal considering this whole wireless thing was an unexpected perk. I did try this with my Bose Lifestyle Surround Sound system's dock, and it does NOT work with it. To be specific, this device DOES pair with my iPhone and does what it's supposed to do while connected to the Bose dock. It's just that Bose won't recognize it. I'm not going to deduct anything from this unit because of this. I blame Bose for this as their overpriced products have quirks. Enough said; I learned my lesson with Bose years ago, and won't make that mistake again. This unit has never once disconnected on me. The other day I put on some music on my iHome Clock Radio via my phone and fell asleep to it. I woke up several hours later and it was still going. (Good thing I plugged the phone in to its charger). All-in-all, you can't go wrong with this little unit. At $30, it's at the high end (maybe a little beyond) of what I'm willing to pay for something like this. But, you do get what you pay for, and so far I feel as though I have.

I tried the rest, this rates as my best!
I have a Bose, non-BlueTooth speaker system that I absolutely loved the sound of, but was tired of dealing with the corded connection. Only one of my source devices was Apple, so the 30 pin connection didn't work for most of them. I always have used high quality corded connectors (3.5 mm stereo mini) to maintain the highest sound reproduction quality I could, but the inconvenience always had me using my inexpensive Bluetooth speakers (with inferior sound) just to have the flexibility and movement. I will admit, the first Bluetooth adaptor I purchased was NOT the CoolStream Duo. I had already purchased and used a Universal/generic Bluetooth adaptor from my local "Big Box" electronics retailer, paying the same as the the price of the CooStream Duo. While I did gain the convenience of no cords with the generic version, I felt it lacked a bit of quality (over the high end corded connections) with some noise being picked up in the higher frequencies. This could have been caused by the low quality built in "pigtail" required with the generic unit, used to plug into the 3.5 mm Stereo mini plug, or simply inherent in the design. Battery life was +/- 8 hours, but the charging had to be done using an entirely different USB adaptor from anything else I owned, and was inconvenient. I saw the CoolStream Duo on Amazon, and the description seemed to be perfect for what I wanted. It claimed to plug in directly to the Bose Sound Dock using the built in IPod 30 pin connector, not use a cord to run to the 3.5 stereo mini, and also appeared that it would charge itself using the battery power (or AC power) of the Bose unit itself. I MAY have been a little skeptical about the ease of operation, but if $30 could turn my inconvenient, yet wonderful sounding Bose system from a virtual boat-anchor into my go-to speaker system, it would be well worth it. So how did the description provided live up to real life? Absolutely on track. No oversell, no hype. I am not a super techno guy, average at best, and I went from opening the package to playing music in about three minutes. Could have done it a bit faster but they used REALLY good tape! The unit charges in place, as advertised, I assume simply by drawing power from the 30 pin connector on my sound dock. All the controls from my phone translate into the appropriate action on the speakers, and the range is equivalent to other BlueTooth devices I own. The convenience of the Coolstream basically merging with and becoming part of the Bose Sound Dock is fantastic. I only have one thing to grab, it doesn't "fall off" or dislodge.....and the sound? I have noticed ZERO added noise, sounds as good as having the source device plugged directly into the 30 pin, and cleaner than having to use even a high quality 3.5 stereo mini cord - including Monster Cable or Gold Ends. I have only had for a month now, but so far I can give the Coolstream Duo five stars - no hesitation!
