Absolutely the best baritone uke trainer but this is for advanced beginners. Really well written and audio links.

I have several bari uke books now and this one far exceeds them all - starting very simply, and building every day and week , with a variety of skills. Chord, strumming, picking, rhythm, and a fun "riff" at the end. very easy to follow but not boring. I can read music and know quite a few chords, but even so going thru the exercises helps strengthen my skills - stringed instruments are not my primary instrument. I needed a comprehensive approach - not just picking, not just strumming, not just chords. This system offers a very short exercise in each category with great written guidance. Very well planned with the student in mind. I highly recommend this for beginner and all levels looking to improve their skills and knowledge.

Love the book and the approach, as well as the access to audio files. My complaint is sort of a big one though - like many books of this type these days, they decided to use grey type on the white page. There's a reason books are printed with black text...your eyeballs need the contrast to ensure readability. Add to that the fact that the font is rather small, and that the spine of the book would benefit from being spiral bound so that it would readily lay flat, and there are some fairly serious usability issues. I hope the publisher will see this and consider making some improvements.

As a guitar and Uke player and teacher, I must warn you: do not buy this unless you are committed to seeing serious improvement in your Uke skills!!! This is not a stand alone method, but if you consistently add these exercises to your daily practice, and complete the entire program, you WILL be very happy in the gains you make in terms of understanding harmonic concepts and their application to the Uke, your technical ability to play, and your ability to hear and recognize intervals and melodic structures. Yes, this book is that good - if YOU put in the time, you WILL be rewarded! I use this book in my studio, and it just plain works! There are many methods to learn and master Uke, but this is absolutely one of the best places to start. If you're serious about Uke, get this book! Thank you for this great resource, Mr. Johnson! This book is for baritone Uke, but it is also available for Uke, and it is just as good!

You will learn chord patterns, strumming, fingerpicking, scales, licks and so on week by week.Some of which may be too easy to finish in less than a week obviously.I still star it five because I like its approach to ukulele learning.

This book is dense with good information, but be aware that the text is in a small font, printed in brown ink. For what I figure is actually a big demographic for this book - older people with failing eyesight- this makes reading difficult.Bummer cause it’s a great course of instruction.Hope the publisher pays some attention to the basics of book design.

I have played baritone ukulele for about 2 years, and having no natural musical talent, felt 'stuck' - just couldn't get past the beginner's stage. Then I found this book - it is amazing!! I've had it for about 4 months now, and can't believe how much progress I've made - doing all the cool riffs and techniques like hammering on, pulling off, doing slides - all the stuff I heard other players doing but had no idea how to do myself....it is definitely not a song book but a resource to accompany your song library and to use to liven up your playing. I am sticking with practicing almost every day; even when I don't feel inspired I will run through some of the weeks I have mastered just to keep up my dexterity....can't recommend this book highly enough. It might be tough for a complete beginner to start with, but once you have some familiarity with chords, rhythm, etc. it is perfect. When I first try the lessons for a new week I usually feel like I will NEVER master them, but between listening to the audios that link to the book and sticking with it, I always do.

I am not very far into the book, but it is easy to understand and I feel that I have made progress even though I have a long way to go in the book. The book covers all the basics and you are sure to improve if you follow the book instructions.

Habe auch die Ausgabe für Ukulelen in der klassischen gCEA Stimmung. Für jeden Spielart sind gut Tricks und Limmericks drin, besonders die ausführlichen Tonleitern Variationen sind Hammer.

This is a very good book is for anyone who is serious about making music on the baritone ukelele. It's a well thought out program that realistically will take most people at least a year to get through. I probably will never play well enough to play all the chords, exercises and riffs here, but even if I only take in a fraction of it all, this purchase was well worth it. If you are a beginner though, I think starting with some basic instruction; a book or instructor first, would ensure that you get the most out of this book.

Excellent one but definitely not for beginners

"Consommateur à titre récréatif" du ukulélé baryton et grand débutant, ce livre me semble une mine. J'ai choisi de ne pas le prendre comme un entraînement de guerrier mais y pioche quand le moment se présente. A la fois un jeu et un entraînement car les exercices sont variés. Je n'en suis qu'au début mais le livre donne envie de persévérer contrairement à certaines méthodes qui présentent rapidement un palier difficile à franchir en autodidacte, donc rebutant. Riche, beau et plaisant !
