Compact and reliable SD reader for USB-C devices
Works well. compact sizeI have been using this Anker SD card reader to pull photos and video off SD cards, and it has worked exactly as expected. Plugged it into a USB-C laptop and phone and it was immediately recognized without any setup. The size is a big plus. It is small enough to live in a camera bag or laptop sleeve without getting in the way, but it still feels solid and well built. Card insertion is firm and secure, not loose. Transfer speeds have been consistent for my use, and I have not had any disconnects or read errors so far. If you need a simple, compact SD card reader that just works, this one does the job.

Wow! This is a GREAT device!
A really fantastic product! It just works so well with all of my usb-c devices—several cameras, two iPads and, iPhone. It’s fast and reliable and so tiny I can carry it at all times in my camera bag. Typical Ancher high build quality. And what a bargain! Highly recommended!

Works great for iPhone photo imports from my Canon SD card!
Really enjoying this compact little gadget. Now I can just plug it into my iPhone and import pictures directly into the Photos app. Works seamlessly. Also works with my laptop. No complaints! Great value and design.

Compact, easy to use, and inexpensive, works exactly as you would expect
Works exactly as you would expect. Effortless and easy to use, didn't require a driver setup or anything, my Windows 11 PC immediately recognized it. It's very small and compact and takes up no space at all. I only wish there was a cap or some way to protect the USB-C connector, but other than that, it's a perfect and inexpensive purchase.

Does not support faster than SDR104 transfer rate (~100MiB/s)
The official SD card specification (for UHS-1) tops out at around 100MB/s (before overhead, etc so you usually see more like 95). Sandisk, Samsung and others that release UHS-1 cards (which is the most common by far today) that claim reads and/or writes in excess of this have re-used the "double data rate" mode of older SD specifications at lower clock speeds and applied it to the maximum 208Mhz SDR mode to transfer up to twice as much data as the normal maximum in the official specification. That modification is fairly common these days (since UHS-2 didn't really take off since it needs more pins and has other issues) but you never know unless the card reader manufacturer tells you they support these "non-standard" (but nonetheless desirable) "extra" speeds. So: this card reader worked fine, didn't have any issues, and I got the maximum speed (of about 95 MiB/s reads, with writes being a bit slower: 83 MiB/s or so). It was able to read the cards I tested between 32GB and 1TB (well, "1TB" because it was a TeamGroup that was short 10GB, even if you used base 10 and not power of 2, ie TB instead of TiB). Like all readers of this type that I've had/tested, it was capable of simultaneously accessing two cards at once (one full-sized and one micro) but you get less than half speed on each (ie: more like 40 MiB/s + 40 MiB/s when both are reading, not either 95 + 95 or even 47.5 +47.5). I'm guessing most or all of these have a single SD controller and it switches between the two (with some overhead). If it had supported the higher (non-standard) speeds I probably would have kept it but I already got a cheaper one that does support them as well as both USB-C and A (where this one only supports C). Bottom line: this was well made, smaller than some, and follows the SD card specification, but for "just" that, there are less expensive options.

A tiny workhorse that never flinches — perfect for Pi flashing on the fly
I’ve put this little Anker reader through absolute abuse flashing Raspberry Pi OS images on my Windows laptop, pulling video off microSD cards, moving firmware, backing up configs, you name it. It lives in my backpack and gets used constantly, and it hasn’t missed a beat once. Transfer speeds are fast and consistent. No random disconnects, no “device not recognized,” no cheap plastic heat-up nonsense. The dual SD + microSD slot setup is perfect when you’re bouncing between Pi projects and other devices. Plug it in, drop your image, and you’re flashing a fresh OS in seconds. What I really love is that it’s built like a tank for something this small. Solid metal, no flex, no cheap feel. It just works every single time which is exactly what you want when you’re doing quick field updates or emergency card reads. If you do anything with Raspberry Pi, SDR, drones, cameras, or honestly just want a reliable SD reader that won’t quit… this is the one. Anker knocked it out of the park.
