Disappointing
This book was a disappointment. I am not a cessationist (though I once leaned that way). I believe that God does still work miraculously, though not in the overwhelming way he did through Christ personally and in the early church. God is still the same, but there are times and seasons for everything. I had hoped that this book would be an encouragement that God still does great things. However, this book falls short in some very important ways. There are several theological problems. Here are a few.1. We are left with the impression that we always should expect a miracle. However, we live in a fallen world and bad things happen as a result. God is not a genie is a bottle that is at our beck and call whenever we have a wish.2. At one point the author notes that while God starts revivals, it is up to us to keep them going, or words to that effect. There is no doubt that we need to cooperate with what God is doing, but it is not up to us to sustain what God begins. All too often when God does a work we see people trying to reproduce it or keep it going.3. One testimony is about someone who refuses to believe unless they are healed, and they are. Perhaps God who knows the heart may answer such a prayer, but are we to think that God can be coerced into doing a miracle? In another case a woman is prayed for over a number of weeks, and then says she does need them anymore. Apparently she has a new man move in to take care of her. Later we learn she was healed and she wonders if the prayers may have had something to do with it. But there is no indication of repentance. There are some other issues as well.1. The author’s name keeps popping up all too frequently in a book that is supposed to be focusing on God’s glory. We are told that his ministry has directly resulted in the planting of "tens of thousands" of new churches. This is a truly bold claim!2. All of the stories are anonymous and undocumented. This is a major problem in a book that it is supposed to be about the power of testimony. For a testimony to be worth anything it needs to be verifiable. In such cases in Scripture the one who is testifying and their story is well known. Here we have only the first name of the person who relates the story and no identity of the person the story is about. Even a believer would be skeptical, and a skeptic will never believe. This totally undermines the value of a personal testimony. It is sad to not really be able find anything worthwhile in a Christian book, but there is nothing here that can wholeheartedly be recommended.

It's not what you think it will be
It's about people who went places and prayed for people not the actual healed persons testimony.

Accounts that need sharing.
Having witnessed quite a few miraculous healings (including both my wife and I), I enjoyed reading this collection of events. I was a pastor for 48 years (now retired) and witnessed many of these miracles involving church members, friends, strangers and family members. One incident that was not so much super natural healing, but divine intervention, happened when a man pointed a gun in my fa goodce, pulled the trigger, and the gun failed to discharge. Am I a believer? You bet I am!

A Faith Builder
One account after another tells of God bringing healing for all types of illnesses and injuries. One can't read all of these accounts without having increased faith that God still reveals His grace and mercy through the miraculous.I would like to hear Randy share why he feels there aren't more such accounts from North America.
