Does not last waste of time
I would have given it zero Stars if I could have this product does not handle real amplified systems do not waste your money on this product as it does not sound good and usually will blow within the first 10 seconds of use in my case I received the item already blown save up and buy a polk or kicker for the extra 12 to 20 bucks you'll thank me

Decent speaker. Very little documentation. Needs a large enclosure.
I purchased this speaker to test it out. I currently have a svc 4 ohm 600w 8" sub in a small enclosure in my truck. I am planning on installing 2 subs and wanted to see if this was worth the money. I have wired it in 2 ohm and 8 ohm configuration. It seems to perform well both ways until I mount it in my small box. This is not a shallow mount speaker and therefore I was not able to mount it in the box normally so I mounted it inverted and tested. My box is approximately 0.5 cuft. This speaker needs a much larger box. I assume that if the manufacturers actually were to print the recommended volume that the suggestion would be 1 - 1.25 cuft. I will not be using this speaker as I need a much smaller enclosure for my custom center console build. I have given this speaker only 3 stars because of the lack of documentation. There are very little specs listed with this. Several of the missing specs I find very important such as RMS rating, recommended enclosure volume and frequency information. Fortunately I am familiar with wiring dual voice coil speakers so I had no difficulty wiring the speaker but there was also no wiring diagrams nor any mention of the necessary mounting depth. It has a diagram of the distance from back of magnet to mounting surface but does not show how much distance is recommended from the back of the magnet to the wall of the enclosure. I am going to assume that this speaker will require at least 1" of space under the speaker. Keep this in mind when thinking about this product. For the money it is probably worth it if you are not worried about how large your box will be. It would need tweaking a playing to get the correct setup but it should sound nice if all the right conditions are met. REMEMBER with any subwoofer do not underpower your speaker. I see this far too often in reviews. People will say that they put 100w RMS amp on a 300w RMS sub. If RMS is 300w have an amp with a minimum of 300w RMS. If your speaker has 600w peak rating do not put on an amp with 600w RMS. It is always important to match power ratings between amp and sub. Do some research if you are not familiar with power ratings so you don't burn up a bunch of speakers. There is no need to spend a fortune on a stereo to get good sound if you know how to set everything up correctly.

Geat Sub for Home - Replaced in Vintage Energy ES-8 Enclosure with original 8 0hm Amp
This is my second purchase of this same size and model. The first one was back on June 2, 2016 Which finally died. Getting almost 3 years out of it is pretty good for the price range of speaker. I needed a replacement and was able to get one just like it again. This went into a Energy ES-8 (100 Watt) Vintage 1998 Subwoofer. Approx .92cuft (Cubic Feet). ported 2 inch round by 9 inch long pointing to the rear. The Cutout was originally 8 3/4 round recessed. Had to widen this out with a Dremel Grinding tool (its what I had at the time) to fit 9 inch round. I did however wire the speaker up for 8 ohm as it is what the original amp was rated at. I did the break in period Low to mid volume for over 5hrs continuous play of various styles of music. As I remember this sub works even better than the original energy sub really hitting some low ends shaking the room during some PC gaming (Elite Dangerous) and really gets going with some Trance and BPM music as well. What I use it for with other speakers in my rig:I use this for Music creation, Gaming, Audio Editing, and just general music listening. This is paired up with some vintage Event 20/20 Studio Speakers with Optimus Center, Rear, and secondary Front Channel B. All Vintage Optimus speakers have been rebuilt as well (just the round foam replaced). While I would have preferred to repair and replace the coil and foam on the old Energy speaker it was just in too bad shape to bother. For being on the cheap side it works really well for me (so far) being on a budget.Just remember to do a break in period of at least 5hrs or more on a low to mid setting and be sure you amp is rated for the proper config. If you need 8 0hms wire it in series or your amp is rated for 2 ohms stable then can drop it to 2ohms in parallel. So far the new replacement is doing great will update if anything changes :)

It's an 8 inch speaker
It's an 8 inch speaker. Mine works, sounds OK. I am not an expert, but have been installing personal stereo and amps for 15 or so years. No it cannot reach the very low frequencies. It started out very stiff and rigid, but has loosened up. I have it in a custom fiberglass speaker box I molded out of the recessed area of my xterra. It is a little over a cubic foot. I have not tried this speaker in any other enclosure. I am pushing it with a clarion 2 channel 200 watt amp. The speaker is wired each voice coil seperately at 4 ohms. This is supposed to make the speaker sound better, according to some experts online. I may try to wire it differently in the future. I probably have 20 or so hours of use in the speaker at modest volume, and maybe 1 hour at high volume. If I push this speaker it will distort. I listen to classic rock and electronica mostly, with some Jimmy Buffett and Hank Williams thrown in there sometimes. Overall I would say this is an OK speaker. They tried WAY too hard though to make this speaker look better than it is. I do like the speaker itself with the very shiny rigid blue cone, and over sized foam rubber surround. I give it a B because it doesn't get as loud (before it distorts) as I remember my old Fosgate 8's back in the 1990's.

im actually surprised by the quality of the sub driver.was looking for a cheap car stereo diy setup, made an enclosure out of a 5 gallon bucket and connected to a 2.1 bluetooth amp board.its not amazing, but for the price it kind of is.
