Gorgeous! Readable! Faithful!
I actually came within a hair of returning this Bible. Lifting it from the box, I found its heft of nearly 4-1/2# a challenge to handle, but its assets outweighed that one drawback. Because of the large print and extensive study aids, it is a thick, heavy volume, but it is a well-constructed book that should last many years.A primary asset is its large, clear typeset, that makes it highly readable. Even the smaller font used for the study notes is large enough for comfortable Bible study without eye strain. The Bible also lies flat when it is opened, making it a good lap Bible if you need your hands free to utilize other tools during Bible study. While this is not as portable as a pocket Bible or a Bible that contains fewer study helps, I solved that problem by also buying a thin line leather ESV Bible that does not contain the study materials. Excessive expense? No, God's Word in a useful format is probably one of the wisest uses of money you can make. I'll use the study Bible primarily at home and carry the small one to spare my arthritic hands. This is a translation that accurately reflects the meanings expressed by the original manuscripts, in contrast to the KJV's archaic language that sometimes gives readers false impressions and brings ridicule of God's Word (e.g. compare the two translations of Psalm 71:6, Philippians 4:6, and Philiippians 1:8) I highly recommend this God-honoring, life-changing book!

Best Bible Version
After much pondering and research I decided to buy the ESV. One should not go and buy a Bible for the heck of it. While using different versions enhances one's understanding it is also true that it might bring confusion and error if a not so good version is being used.I like to read word for word translations and some dynamic translations. The ESV is a word for word translation, much like the NRSV, NASB, and KJV. Some 150 men and women participated in the endeavour to bring forth this work of art.In my opinion, this has been the best investment I've made on the word of God. I bought the black leather large print Study Bible because I've had bad experiences with hard-cover ones in the past. I've been using and abusing it since 2016, and I have yet to see any wear, much less tearing. It's essays and footnotes are magnificent and deeply enrich my devotional time. It's construction is phenomenal. Great quality materials—leather-bound; sewn and glued—were used to make this baby. It does not get any better than that!Font size is adequate for the overall text and the footnotes. The only two things, and for me these are minor aspects:1.) The illustrations are not coloured; 2.) It is HEAVY, since it is a 3000+ pages behemoth.Another positive aspect? since it is huge, It's easier to spot. :-)Nonetheless, I still carry it to church.I hope this helps.

Overpriced for it just being paper, but it’s value is priceless
Definitely expensive, it’s leather, the colored thick maps are nice though. Big letters, very nicely done

Real leather bonding. Beautiful
BIG-BIG and heavy. I've searched YouTube for which version of a Bible to get and tHe ESV [English Standard Version] came out on top. The introduction to each book is indepth and gives the reader a good feel for the time period and background on how, by whom and geographical information. Look no further this is the one to get and paying a little more for the leather cover is worth it.

Awesome. Best Christmas present ever!
The best and most comprehensive study bible on the market today. Invest in yourself it’s one thing you can never lose! Buy it and read it. You’ll never get bored in this one. I got it as a Christmas gift from my significant other and it’s the best Christmas gift I think I’ll ever receive because they know how bad I wanted it but couldn’t bring myself to spend the money. It’s so easy to follow and makes study engaging and you remember what you learn.

Fantastic Bible!
I ordered numerous Bibles before finally finding this one. If you’re looking for an ESV study Bible don’t look any further. I didn’t really need large print but this is so comfortable on the eyes that it is worth the extra size. Feels great in hand, pages are not too thin, and it lays open flat perfectly. It’s not indexed but it really couldn’t be nicer.

Excellent Bible for study!
I'm a Baptist pastor. I have many, many bibles in many different translations. Most Baptist congratulations are raised on the King James. I have nothing against the KJV, it reads like poetry. That's fine if you understand what Shakespeare is trying to say to you. But I find that more modern translations are easier for my members to understand, especially the younger ones. I like this ESV translation better than the NIV, NLTand many others, especially the Amplified Bible. I regularly preach and teach from this Bible. As a study Bible I find this to be a most excellent choice. The pictures, charts, maps, comments and commentaries are very good. This Bible can help you leave other reference books on the shelf. The commentaries are pretty much mid of the road and not colored to much in their theology. The cover is nice for the price point. Pages a normal Bible weight paper and the print fairly easy to read, note are a little smaller. I'm 67 and find no problems reading with my reading glasses. The only thing I will point out about this Bible is ...it is huge! It measures almost I would say 3 inches thick. For that reason I bought a smaller one and keep this one at home for study and sermon prep. If your one the fence, get off and buy it!
