Nice reference book

good book for the person that wants basic information about fishing. I am a shore saltwater/freshwater fisherwoman and really enjoyed the basic knowledge the book has. I would have liked to have scene REAL pictures of the fish though instead of illustrations

If you want to know what's out there and it's sport and commercial value read this book. Well written and concise. Just what I wanted.

Good general guide to sport fish that most in the USA would eat. No pretty coral fish listed, so not a complete guide.

I do volunteer guide work in a local aquarium. I was looking for a guide related to salt water fish, their range and eating and breeding habits. I purchased the Kindle edition because I can carry it in the pocket of my cargo pants and it is always readily available. Although this guide is designed for anglers it has served my requirements very well. Though the aquarium has over 1100 species inclusive of some mammals, birds and many invertebrate marine creatures it is primarily dedicated to saltwater fish. It is reassuring to know that when a guest asks a question related to fish I have an easy quick means by which I can accurately respond. This book has proved to be an excellent resource even though my use differs from its' intended use.

Disappointed at content ; purchased for grandson;

I purchased this book for our son who had shown strong interest in fish particularly ones in ocean. He loves cooking fish and likes to study fish of different kinds. It was a perfect book to satisfy his curiosity and to expand it. He has not put it down since we bought it 1.5 months ago and I really feel we got significant mileage out of this book! We just ordered the Fresh Water Dish book from the same author.
