Accuracy and design: a perfect combination
I purchased this scale for use at a residential program for four men who are elderly and have both developmental and physical disabilities. None of the men are very stable on their feet so they have a difficult time trying to balance on most scales. We need consistent daily weights due to the possibility of fluid retention which in our world could mean congestive heart failure. A weight gain of a couple of pounds could mean a hospital visit or admission so we need an accurate reading every day. The wider surface is incredible. The guys are able to step up and stand on it. Their gait is wider so their feet are spread apart more than most people so the small scales are nearly impossible for them to stand on. The profile of the scale is very low so the men can step on and off of it easily. Since their depth perception is not optimal, the lower profile is essential since they trip up onto normal sized scales. This scale is barely higher than the floor! Other scales with similar heights can cost significantly more - $200 - $300 for some that I researched at medical equipment stores. This scale is a great option for use with people that have a hard time with any of all of the above mentioned problems. But at the end of the day the most important thing is that the scale is accurate. Smart way has designed a winner. I highly recommend it.

Great product-but not perfect
After a few weeks of using this product I feel I can give an honest review now. While it seems to be reasonably accurate care must be taken to "reset the tare" after moving it. That is you should press down firmly on it and release to allow it to zero out after EVERY time you move it. The real downside is the tape measure. What a great idea to include a 60" maximum length tape measure in a scale rated to 440 pounds (not). Still, a few more weeks and I will be able to use it as I am now down to 61". The tape itself is neat, with a retract button and a slot for the end of the tape to allow easy measurement for those who can use it. There are equivalent tapes out there that go to 80", why didn't they include one of those? For the price this seems a solid product if care it taken in using it.

The brutal power of random reinforcement...How much do I weigh today?
I have struggled a great deal with whether to leave a review for this product...I was always taught "if you can't say anything nice, don't say anything at all". But, there's also "buyer beware"--and in the interest of being helpful, I will temporarily abandon my polite upbringing. In the year I have given this scale to "grow on me", I have grown to hate it. If you are buying a scale for a sleek, contemporary look to jazz-up your bathroom floor, then look no further. If you are buying a scale to determine how much you weigh, then this probably isn't the scale for you. This scale will give you a "rough" idea about your weight...usually somewhere within a 10-14# window. What's adorable is that it goes so one place past the decimal point, to be more precisely inaccurate. To give this scale the benefit of the doubt, I believe there's a chance it might work on a surface that is 100% completely level. If you have a floor that's made of tile, or wood, or carpet, or concrete, there is probably too much variation in the level of your floor for this scale to work properly. (I understand that some variation is expected, due the motion of the user, however, this scale has given me different weights for a very well-behaved gallon of milk. It is very sensitive; I'm not sure if it's measuring variations in the tilt of the floor, the air pressure, ambient temperature, or Earth's magnetic field, but it's definitely measuring something.) If you think you might enjoy the excitement of a slot-machine as you attempt to weigh yourself in the morning (dollar sign - dollar sign - LEMON, dang it!), then you might enjoy this scale. You may wake up one morning to find you've lost 11.8# overnight! Jackpot! But, you may find that you've gained 12.2# after your cup of coffee...and that's the kind of thing that can break up a family. On the plus side, it is cool to the touch, and the cat really seems to enjoy laying on it. It is precisely the right size cat-sleeping-platform, depending on the size of your cat. My cat weighs somewhere between 7 and 22#, according to the scale.

Not accurate and fluctuates, weight jumps 1lb plus or minus
I don't understand why everyone says its so precise. The weight jumps up or down +/- half a pound every time I step on it. I bought it because of all the good reviews, but people have to know, this scale is not consistent. I am on a level solid floor and the number fluctuates. I put on 20 pounds of weights and it read 19.4 and 35 pounds of weight which read 34.6. The scale itself looks sleek, nice and wide. Glass feels sturdy and wide, however makes a clicking sound every time you step on it. The LCD display reads very cleanly and even lights up. It will give you a general idea of what you weight, but not very accurate. Not the best if you want to track your weight daily.

Very Cute, but... a Rough Estimate.
I always had a problem with my weight of being too small, and so I bought this figuring it would give me better estimate. I had never imagined I would buy myself a scale to make sure I wasn't losing too much weight, so I figured it would make my anxiety go down. It's the perfect size, the material is very beautiful, the color is accurate with the picture and the numbers are very easy to read when you step onto it. It stores pretty easily anywhere and isn't too heavy. The only problem is that when I use it, it gives me a different weight every time. I've used it multiple times and I'm still not confident of what my actual weight is. I've only used this on tile in my bathroom and nowhere else. It's very decorative, but if you're looking into something more serious, this scale isn't for you.
