Second-Degree Brown Belt Kakuro (Martial Arts Puzzles Series)

These puzzles are a little harder than I was looking for. I just finished the MENSA Kakuro book and was looking for a difficulty similar to the mid-level puzzles in that book. These puzzles are a similar level to the last fifth of the book - where I spend a lot of time just staring trying to find an "in" to the puzzle. This isn't the challenge level I was looking for so will be trying the green belt series and save this one for when I get more experience under my belt.

The issue might be my room temperature IQ, but these puzzles are very challenging. Not impossible, but I can’t imagine how much harder the black belt level could be.

I expected this book to either start with puzzles as difficult as the ones in the first Brown Belt book in the series, or start a little easier and then get harder. But it started harder. I could only do one of the first several puzzles, and I was able to complete all the puzzles in the first book.Otherwise, it is a fine book--same quality as the first one. I am just reducing stars for an unclear ranking system--and really that's the appeal of books in the same series.I'd love to have a book with puzzles starting at the level of the end or near the end of the first Brown Belt book. If anyone has a recommendation, please post below!

I know that the puzzles will seem like they've stumped you at times in this book, as the other reviewers stated. I was getting frustrated with it too until I started doing what I usually don't do, (and I don't mean cheating), I began to look at sums and realize that there would have to be a certain number in it, and there was only one such place that number could go. What I'm saying is that you'll have to switch the traditional way you've solved these puzzles - but that's what makes this so great. I appreciate the high level of challenge.

I love Kokuro puzzles. I’ve tried the black belt but struggle. Will try the second degree brown belt next.

I could work about 45% of them. I find that by doing the more difficult puzzles that I have increased my skill and can solve more thanthan I expected. Will order another when the next version comes out.

I like the book very much. I just need a lower level of difficulty. Medium puzzles are too easy, but these are too difficult!

Ich bin zwar kein Experte, aber schon ganz geübt ( vielleicht so 4 Stunden pro Woche ). So ca. jedes 6.te bekomme ich mal nicht komplett gelöst und im Durchschnitt brauche ich schon so 90 Minuten, allerdings mit deutlicheren Abweichungen in beide Richtungen. Die aber machen wirklich großen Spaß. Ich habe alle meine übrigen Kakuro Bücher in die Ecke gelegt.

ok, es gibt wirklich mindestens eine Doppellösung wie schon früher kritisiert. Aber alle Rätsel sind durch Logik lösbar, auch wenn es manchmal sehr lange dauert. Tatsächlich sind einige dabei, wo dies nur durch Summenbildung möglich ist. Tolles Kakuro, meiner Meinung nach sogar etwas schwieriger als das Black Belt Kakuro. Für Liebhaber von wirklich schweren Kakuros nur zu empfehlen.

im Vergleich zu dem Vorgänger-Heft Brown Belt hat mir dieses Heft weniger gefallen. Viele Rätsel sind nicht ausschließlich durch logisches Denken zu lösen, sondern durch Probieren. Einige Rätsel konnte ich garnicht lösen, da die übrig gebliebenen Varianten zu viel waren und ein endloses Probieren für mich nicht Sinn der Sache ist.

Nicht durch Knobeln, sondern nur durch langwieriges Ausprobieren lösbar. Brown Belt und Black Belt der ersten Reihe sind klasse, von Second Degree rate ich ab.

I buy this for my husband who tells me it is a good balance. Hard enough but not so hard that he struggles.
