The Hard Drive has a fine look, I bought a light blue one. Size and weight is good for portability. Although this being a dynamic hard drive I recommend to get a nice shock absorbing cover for it. Dynamic Hard drives may last a lifetime as long as it doesn't get physically damage, even if it falls on the edge from a height of 3 feet there's a possibility that it may be permanently damaged beyond repair. There are many data recovery options available but they are not always successful. I use this one for storing my personal media (photos, videos etc.). For very important documents I suggest a static drive(pendrive, flashdrive etc.) or if affordable a SSD (Solid State Drive) would be adequate. I am completely satisfied with the USB 3.0 transfer speed I found the average speed to be approximately 120 MB/s for the total data transfer of about 1.2 TB all at once, the drive was heated but the HDD did not slow down and neither failed for whole 2 hrs and 52 mins. I have tested this device on Desktop, Laptop, TV and Android smartphones and it connects easily and works flawlessly. Although I recommend to always use USB 2.0 for streaming and browsing purposes to ensure its longlife, especially while connecting on TV I strongly suggest to use USB 2.0 as I have lost 4 External HDD's while streaming with USB 3.0, a TV sometimes draws a lot of power from USB 3.0 port resulting in HDD failure, It took me some time to determine what was causing my HDD,'s to fail so be careful. I have possessed Toshiba, WD, Transcend and Seagate for external HDD and in terms of performance they all great and similar but in terms of services I found Seagate is the best as they have more service centres across India than other brands and warranty claim is fast and easy in my experience. I am going to be honest. I have been using a 1 TB external hard disk from Seagate for 6 years by now. It is working perfectly other than some loose connection at its port. I got this hard disk with 2 TB capacity. I thought 6 years of technological development meant it would have higher speeds and portability. But quality has decreased on the manufacturing side by Seagate, which may go unnoticed by many general customers. Pros: - 2 TB exact free space, my older hard disk had 950gb instead of the promised 1 TB - Light weight and Smaller foot print Cons: - Inconsistency and Reliability issues - Noise Now, my older hard disk makes less noise than this newer one. The first piece of this model that I got was having an unacceptable "screeching" sound randomly. Possibly from the head pressing over the disk internally. I could not even find a way to reproduce the problem. Sometimes even 5 1080p videos can be streamed simultaneously, and sometimes it just gets stuck even for one video, as if the file was corrupted. On performing a copy of 800 gb to this new hard disk, I noticed that one file was corrupted. And after copying, the promised speed of 120 gb/s fell down to 50-60 gb/s. My older hard disk gives same speed whether its complete empty or full. I ordered a replacement and although there is no "screeching" noise from this one, the speed degradation on filling up is still considerable. So, there is something wrong definitely with the quality control at manufacturing. -------- This is a step down Seagate.
