Very impressed with this. I was concerned that it would not hold my 218 dlv carolina skiff but I was pleasantly surprised! I am going to purchase another so I can anchor the front and the back.

Great Stick Anchor for 14' Jon Boat
I was considering building a Max Gain DIY stick, but for the price of this kit including rope & mounts I passed it up. Very glad I did.All parts of the anchor are nice quality. The mounts really hold the stick very secure. I also made velcro loops that I ran the mounting screws through and wrap around the mounts. I doubt these mounts would ever let go of the stick but if they did the velcro will hold it.I chose the 9' and I like the idea that I can cut it down and remount the handle if I decide I want it shorter.Overall I'm very happy with this purchase and would highly recommend it.

Fantastic item, works GREAT for my 23-foot deck boat
Fantastic item, works GREAT for my 23-foot deck boat! As others have said though, buy a "crab trap float" ( 6" styrofoam ball) and tread the lanyard through it. These do anchor pins not float and you will lose them if they get loose...this purchase was to replace a different one that I lost.

Works perfect!! Going to buy another one
Held my 20ft fiberglass bass boat steady in 4ft of water with 10+mph winds. Works perfect!! Going to buy another one, and I would recommend it to anyone.

Nice for fishing
This is the second one we have bought and we love it. The other one was lost, we had that one for about 5 years and it never broke/showed any sign of wear. We use this for the backwaters in our John boat. Its nice to use since you don't have to deal with throwing out the anchor every time you want to move to a different fishing spot. It holds us even if the current is moving around or the wind is pushing our boat. Its also easier to take up then an anchor as well. It has worked in every spot we have tried so far ( muck, oyster beds, rocky bottom and sand) without any problem. We just put it along the side of our boat when its not in use and it doesn't take up any space at all.

Excellent stake out pole with a few caveats.
Bought this to use with a stand up paddleboard used exclusively for fishing. Works great in the waters I fish. I not only use it to anchor but as also a push pole to pole around mud flats searching for feeding fish.If you are in an area with mainly rock bottom, it will not work as well as it needs to be driven into the bottom to "stake out". Additionally, effective depth to use is probably around 7' max as it must be driven into the bottom well for it to hold. I also carry an anchor with 50' of rope for anchoring in deeper water but I prefer the pole when depth allows as it is easy to deploy and retrieve. A person could make one themselves for a little less money, probably around 40-50 dollars for something comparable or cheaper if you use your imagination but for a one purchase and done deal I have no regrets and would buy again.

The metal spike on the anchor can come off while using as intended.
I purchased this shallow water anchor several months ago but realistically I've only gotten to use it maybe three or four times as I mainly fish deeper bodies of water. Well, today I ended up going to the mosquito lagoon and brought this stake out pole with me as the lagoon is very shallow. I'm not sure how they secure the metal spike to the end of the anchor but at some point today I pulled the pin out of the mud/sand and the spike didn't come up with the pole. Now I've got a spike with a blunt end that may or may not be enough to dig in. It worked for me for the rest of the day today because I was fishing a muddy bottom but I can see this not working out so well when the sand is denser packed.

Multiple uses. Not designed for fast wind or water conditions.
It holds. Well made easy to store in fish rod holders. It does eventually slip-out with high tides, boat traffic, current, or wind. But it’s not designed to be a anchor. It’s a stake pole that helps control drifting from light winds and water conditions. Even comes in useful when docking. I love this tool. Stores easily in long rod holders.
