My 7-year-old granddaughter and I just read this book. She is biracial and has long, curly hair. She loved the book. She even found the little movie on YouTube and has enjoyed both!

A great little story about hair, daughters, and dads…at this stage as a father of three daughters I remember those few times I was left to try my best at brushing their hair…as a grandpa now pretty much bald, I have granddaughters with their own hair fun to enjoy. Hair love…family love it’s all tied together in this beautiful story and reminder.

I just read the book "Hair Love," and I was blown away by how it shows the Black community and what a good message it sends. As a Black person, it's not often that I see a children's book that shows how beautiful and different Black hair can be. The pictures are beautiful and bring the story to life in a way that is meaningful and powerful. The father and daughter's relationship is heartwarming and a beautiful example of the love between a parent and a child. I highly recommend "Hair Love" to all families, but especially to Black families because it celebrates and embraces the unique things that make us who we are.
