Has anyone seen scratches from knives or other use? Looking for everyday plates

No I have not seen any scratches on either my plate or bowl

is there a smooth side of the plate to eat from? or is the beading on the whole plate?

The top part of the plate that you eat from is smooth. Only the underside of the plate has the beading. I collect the older plates which have a more pronounced beading that the current ones. BB

Why are these more expensive than the converted retail price on ittala's website?
