I loved this fan and everyone asked about it

The fan is well made with a bamboo frame. The cloth is strong and kind of like a really smooth canvas It is large and sturdy. The black is really black. Until the mid 1900’ I think only men could carry them. In days long past only the Emperor could carry one. Fans were used in battle not cool oneself, but point and signal. I’m not a Japanese culture expert by any means, so take what I said with a grain of salt. I get my inspiration from watching Kurosawa Akira’s ‘Seven Samurai’, and his 29 other films. So if I have offended anyone in Japan I apologize.

This is, without a doubt, the best fan I've ever owned.I carry one of these fans any time I'm at an outdoor event like the Renaissance festival, Scottish Games, music festivals, amusement parks, etc. It is powerful enough to cool three people at once with its breeze, and the bamboo slats and the heavy duty fabric material last pretty much forever. (Don't get one of the plastic ones, they always break.)Whenever I break one of these out and begin fanning myself, everyone downwind notices the breeze and leans in. But if you really want an attention-getter, practice that flick-of-the-wrist that lets you open it incredibly quickly and loudly - that will turn heads for twenty feet!By the way, these aren't just "for women" like it says in the product name :eye roll:. I (male) had three of these before my wife started "borrowing" them. Now she's got the whole set, one in every color, and I'm allowed to use the black one.Oh, and the colors are just as rich and intense as pictured.

I do not like the bulkiness of the wood. Enjoyed the plastic one's over these....only because my hands are small.
