is this item food safe?

These are general purpose stoppers that are used mostly to store chemicals and non-food materials. They probably have a low toxicity level, but I wouldn't use them for long term food storage. For food storage I would look for a "food grade" stopper like white natural gum. An internet search will probably provide sources for food grade stoppers. Hope this helps...
