Works great. Hard to install.
This mode door actuator performes excellent and was a perfect fit. Good quality and a great value. I expect its metal gear to be durable and long lasting. And even if it fails, its a Dorman part with a real warranty. I didn't have to take the dash apart to replace it so thats great but getting the levers lined up is not easy and if you have never done one I would leave it to a professional.

Fixed problem with air from defrost vents only
This part is a bit tricky to install but once you get it, it works great. I installed it in my 2002 Chevy Tahoe. I highly recommend this part to anyone who’s having problems with air only coming out of the defrost vents. It fixed my problem.

Phew, got it installed
Removing kick panel allowed a better view of the actuator. No problems removing the 2 screws as some other reviewers have had. On the top screw used a 1/4 inch drive extension and universal joint with a 5/32 socket. One wish I had on the removal is that I could have just pulled the actuator off and left the plate in place. I tried but it didn’t come off so I ended up pulling the entire unit out. Once I got it out the plate came off very easily by hand so I think if I should have tried a little harder in keeping it in place as it would have made the reinstall a breeze. So I decided based on YT videos and reviews here that for the new Dorman unit I would take the plate off and install that first. Well the plate on the Dorman unit would not come off, I tried tugging, pulling, and levering to no avail. It eventually broke and I had to drill it out to get it all off. I read in one of the reviews here that someone else ran into the same issue and I wonder if I had bought the AC/Delco unit if that plate removal would have been easier. I ended up using the original plate and that worked out fine. Now getting the plate back on required a lot of attempts, swearing, and body contortions until it slipped in right and I could rotate it and see that it was moving ok. Then I just installed the new actuator on the plate, rotated it slightly to align the screw holes, installed the screws, recalibrated the unit, and my chevy now blows air where I direct it to! Hope this Dorman unit lasts as I was just as soon not do this job again!

Dorman disappoints two out of two times
I replaced the worn out motor with this and it would still not properly actuate. I ordered an AC Delco motor and installed it and it functions without issue. The problem with this unit from Dorman is there is excessive play between the motor and the gear which results and binding. Unfortunately the quality is nowhere near that of the OEM AC Delco unit. I would not think as much about this other than I also ordered a Dorman actuator motor for the temperature control and it was dead out of the box so two for two arrived non-functional.

Perfect replacement part
Perfect replacement part. The Dorman brand is fabulous for do-it-yourselfers. The brand has been consistently reliable. There are many online videos to show you how to replace car parts. It saves a ton of money on car repairs to be able to buy the replacement parts and DIY. After replacing the part in the car this Dorman worked perfectly. Check to see if the part that your looking for is compatible with your car. Amazon offers a does it fit feature when you're looking for pats for your car. I found it to be accurate.

Worked!!
Worked like a charm.. be ready to twist, turn and get frustrated on this install tho. lol. Located under the driver side dash almost behind the heater control module. Also remember there are two of these on your Chevy. The other is located under the passenger side dash. Easier to get to. This one does not have the plastic guard it’s just the unit. The plastic guard just pops right off. But both units are the same just make sure all the pig tale pins all match. On my Chevy these units were pretty much the same. I did have to get one from the auto parts store but the pins were not the same. So I did find one running around a bit but to save you the head ache keep it in mind.. great buy worked as it should wish I would have bought two right away..

Fixed Air Direction Flow Issue in my 2002 Silverado
Part fits and works great! Excellent value for the money. I was about to tear into the dash to find out why my air was only coming out the face vents and read about these door actuators. Part came in the next day. Installed two days later. Wasn't hard to install. Just in a tight location. Read instructions in the box. Took maybe 30 minutes from start to finish. Wish I did this last year. I ran the engine trying to warm up the cab to defrost the windshield last winter here in Texas. I know right!

I installed it as it came in the box and the dorman cam plate was binding and not turning the gear unless i assisted it with my finger. As others suggested, i reused the old cam plate from the oem unit and installed it on the dorman motor and NOW it works as it should. Definitely was annoying considering my application was a 2000 chevy silverado which im sure many of my GMT800 brothers will come to recognize as being a difficult repair. Definitely dont take any chances with the dorman plate if you dont want to waste an additional 2+ hours of your time.
