It works well, and no kitty irritation. -- 1 Week update...
Day 3: If you are like most people, you have three main concerns over flea medication: 1. Is it safe? 2. Will it kill the fleas? 3. How much is it going to cost? We have a total of 9 cats, and we imported a bad flea problem when we brought in a feral mama kitty and her 4 kittens. Before we knew they had fleas, we had an infestation for all of our cats. We placed the kittens with a no kill adoption shelter after socializing them, and kept mama since she was amicable to being domesticated. But that still left us with fleas. One of our cats with long hair had the worst flea problem. I was using a flea comb on him twice a day, and getting roughly 20 fleas off of him per combing. All cats were fighting with itching and biting at their fleas. I tried using the Hartz topical drops, and I might as well have been using water. It brought no change at all for any of the cats. I then waited one month to use this product, and it went well. None of the cats seemed irritated by the drops. A few didn’t like the liquid on their neck, but they didn’t do mouthing motions like they had with the Hartz, which indicates they could taste the Hartz while it was entering their system. Within 12 hours of their individual applications (I staggered them so I could isolate each cat while the drops dried) the amount of biting and scratching at fleas dropped greatly. I did combing of a few of them at the 24 hour marks, and the one long-hair had 2 living fleas that could barely walk, and no other fleas at all. Within 48 hours, there were no fleas found on any of the cats except the long-hair, who had 2 small fleas that were still alive, but could not stand. These were small, and probably had just hopped onto him from the carpeting. I am very happy with the results, and will follow-up with a second treatment at the 30 days mark. One bit of advice—if you have a beard or hair trimmer that is not too loud, and cannot cut skin, I would suggest trimming a quarter-sized spot on the back of your cat’s neck before applying this. (If you can convince your cat to sit for it!) Doing this will allow you to apply the medication directly to the skin/undercoat, allowing it to sink in directly without wicking up too much into the fur. When I did this, the liquid—which has the consistency of a thin oil—sat in that spot and did not run all over. Petting the cat and keeping it in an upright position for a few minutes allowed the treatment to seep and spread at the skin level, which is most effective. A good product at a good price! I will amend this if there is anything negative to report, but I do not anticipate such. Day 7: The fleas are coming back. The frist 1-2 days the numbers combed out of the cats plummeted dramatically. Then the numbers started to rise. I can understand that the flea eggs and larvae that were on the floor and everywhere else might have been rotating in, but that would not explain the dramatic decline, and then rise, in fleas combed out. Figure--if fleas were rotating in, then they should have been rotating in the first 1-2 days as well. Not a problem. But the fact remains that the numbers are going up. The only thing I can think of is that the toxicity to fleas drops off after a couple of days, and thus the ones are simply not dying off as quickly. And after only 1 week, that tells me that by the end of the second week, the fleas will be back in full force, with 2 more weeks before I can treat again.

Cheap alternative, works great!
My cats have been using this product for 5 years now and have not gotten fleas or ticks. They are indoor cats but I let them on my patio supervised and I have two Australian shepherds who spend a lot of time outside in dirty areas where they could easily pick up fleas or ticks and bring them home to the cats. Much cheaper with the same active ingredient of the veterinarian-recommended version.

Effective but Not Great for Our Multiple-Cat Situation
I usually use Revolution for our multiple rescued cats but can’t find my most recent shipment (oh, the pitfalls of organizing and forgetting that the best place to put something is where you always go to find it) and a new very shy stray is hanging around so until I catch it and get it treated, fleas seem to be leaping onto the other cats. I ordered this after researching it and deciding it would be a good one to try as I wait on a new order of Revolution. While I like the multiple effects of Revolution, it doesn’t seem to work on one of my cats so I thought maybe I’d keep using this if all went well. The medication seems to work quickly, which is great. The biggest problem is actually my fault for not reading carefully enough to realize before it arrived that you’re supposed to keep the cats away from each other for 24 hours after you apply it. Our cats like to spend time together so this was a big issue. I can see why they recommend that, though, as there is a lot of liquid in each dose (my cats all are over 10 pounds so I had to buy the 9-pound-plus size. We applied it as required to the skin but the cats all have fairly large oily patches of hair from this now. As a result, I am concerned about letting them get near each other even tomorrow because they play s d from each other quite often. There must be more fluid in each dose than in Revolution or maybe it just spreads more. I saw that someone recommended shaving their hair to apply this but having to separate all these cats for a day is not going to be a great option for us so I don’t plan to use this again. I understand why they say to do it and it seems to be working well so if you have fewer cats or more rooms to lock the cats in for a day, it may be a good option for you. Updated One Day After Treating Our Cats: The fleas are gone, the scratching is gone, and so are the oily spots on the cats. I feel much better about this product now.
