At first when I got it, the cover wouldn't stay closed so I opened a return on Amazon. I read the feedback for this item it was overwhelmingly positive. I must have missed something, so I went back and found a few other comments about the lid not closing right and the manufactures feedback was good, they said welcome to return it with no problems but try running it under hot water and bend the latch out a little bit. It seemed to me like that would only be a temporary fix at best and I didn't want to get stuck with something that would eventually fail or open up and spill everything all over my car or something, so I started shopping around for a replacement. I could not find anything that I liked as well, the size of this one is perfect, also I liked that all the little compartments were separate containers, not just dividers in the box. It gives much more flexibility for what you can pack in it. I also liked the covered internal containers, which increased the possibilities of what you can carry even more and lastly I like the little sauce container for dips. There doesn't seem to be any others that are quite as perfect as this especially for the price, so I decided to try the hot water trick and surprisingly it worked! and it worked great! As a matter of fact I have tested and tested the lid to see if I can get it open or if the latch eventually goes back to not holding the lid shut. That was not the case I can drop the box, twist it and squeeze it and I am very certain that it won't accidentally come open, unless something inadvertently pushes the latch that allows it to open. I have been using it for a few days now and couldn't be happier. I look forward to taking part in this bentology thing that I never heard of before. There is a website that gives you all sorts of ideas on what to pack for lunch and you can sign up for a weekly email with lunch ideas. I can see where this would be great for kids school lunches, but for me I will use it to take healthy things to work for lunch or snacks. The are so many things you can do, especially if you have some left overs. extra raw vegetables or fruits, I dug through the fridge and found part of a green pepper, I sliced that up, threw in a few baby carrots and pieces of cheese and some rolled up pieces of lunch meat, a few grape tomatoes, some red grapes and mini sesame sticks in, then I put a little salad dressing it the little covered sauce cup and that was lunch my first day. I have been to the website and found some great recopies. Monday I am going to try the seasoned baked chicken breast pieces, sliced onions and peppers and spices it looks a little bit like fajitas, then I'll open the fridge a throw in whatever else I can find and take it to work for lunch! I am excited about bentology! I never new what it was but I am looking forward to a fun way to more healthy eating and I am confident that the hot water trick works permanently! I will not be returning this, it's my new favorite thing!

I just received this - the inside containers seem well-made and the covered ones are leakproof. My only small complaint is that the outside box is pretty cheapo plastic and the latch to open/close is hard to operate and looks like it won't last long. The box is a perfect size to stuff into a backpack. The description and reviews are right on - all the pieces were present and no surprises upon receipt. UPDATE: This has lasted a couple of years under almost daily use now - turns out the latch and hinge weren't cheap. I LOVE IT! Due to allergies I have to eat a restricted diet, so I need to bring food from home to work. It was always a problem for me when I am chairing a large meeting that is catered, and I had to drag out a bunch of plastic containers of food to eat, it's so shlubby and embarrassing--very Lisa Loopner. This bento box has fixed that completely. It looks cool, and no matter what you put in there it looks tasty, intriguing and sophisticated.

Horrible Quality Paper Thin Plastic top is so thin it’s translucent. The outer rim of the tops broke off. Even with the rims in place, the tops do not fit properly and they do not snap closed. Highly dissatisfied. Definitely not leakproof.

Love it but the flap doesn’t secure very well. Keeps popping open. The older model with the one inch snap closer is better.

I ordered this for my daughter to use as a lunchbox for preschool. The portion size containers are great for that age but I don't know that an adult would like them. For instance, there is no sandwich size container. Neither the little containers nor the large box are leakproof, and the covers on the small containers have a rather loose fit. They won't just fall off, and a child can easily remove them, which is good, but don't expect to be able to put liquids in these. As for the larger box itself, it was very difficult to open the latch the first time, but then it was hard to get it to stay closed thereafter. You have to bend the latch in as far as it will go when the box is open in order to get it to latch weakly to the bottom of the box. I would not trust this box lose in a backpack by itself. I bought a corresponding lunchbox to put this in, and it stays shut in that just fine, but if it was rattling around a backpack by itself I don't think it would stay shut. The loose fitting latch does make it so a child can easily open it, but it's not overly secure as a container. You also cannot fit normal size silverware in the silverware slot on the side. So overall, is this functional? Yes, and I do use it just fine for my daughter's lunch, but it is not nearly as good as it is advertised.

This was purchased for my husbad. I found that it was sort of like putting a puzzle together when you put the little bento containers in to the bento case. It would be great for people’s who require less food than an adult, therefore it would work wonderfully for children! Especially the kids who can’t have certain foods touch other food!

Ich habe lange nach einer passenden Bentobox gesucht, da ich japanisches Essen über alles liebe und ich mich mal an einer Bentozubereitung versuchen wollte. Da mir immer Design auch sehr wichtig ist, ist meine Wahl auf diese gefallen und ich wurde nicht enttäuscht. Die Farbe ist schön und macht echt was her. In die Box passt viel rein und das obligatorische Dressingdöschen ist einfach genial, verwende ich für Dips oder Cremes. Man kann die Döschen bei Bedarf auch einzeln verschließen, was sehr praktisch ist wenn man etwas mit Soße machen möchte. Ansonsten verrutscht auch ohne innere Deckel nichts, der Große ist bei beispielsweise Gemüsesticks und Onigiri vollkommen ausreichend. In das kleine Besteckfach passt ein kleiner Löffel und / oder Gabel. Normales Besteck passt leider nicht rein, Kinderbesteck allerdings schon. Ansonsten kann man die Speisen auch so auswählen, dass man alle mit Fingern essen kann. Ich hatte die Box schon mehrmals in der Spülmschine und bin vollkommen von dieser Box überzeugt.

Looks great and very practical. And it holds quite a bit of good. I have used this every day for my work lunches since purchasing.
