GREAT throne for the $!
I have been using a Sunlite drum throne that I bought back in the 1980s to play acoustic guitar gigs for the past ten years, and it's finally time to retire it, as hardware is starting to come loose, though it will still hold me. I recently bought a Stage Rocker throne, and for its low price, worked fine for a couple of gigs, but was simply uncomfortable after an hour sitting on it. Not sure if it's the padding, but I knew I needed something else. During a break, I looked up drum thrones on Amazon and found the Gibraltar 6608. Well, I'm here to tell ya that this throne provides plenty of padded comfort, and though this is the first "bike seat" style I have ever used, I am lovin' it! The tripod is rock solid and stable, raises high enough to where I like it (maximum of 24"), and the bike seat is truly an improvement, comfort-wise. Similar thrones made by higher-end manufacturers can cost six times what I paid for this seat, and I could not justify the cost-for-quality reasoning on the basis of this throne's quality and price. I am now one most happy - seated - camper!

Great Throne!
I picked this up for use with an electronic set that I got for my condo. I own another Gibraltar throne for my acoustic set and have been very pleased with that, so the decision to purchase another was an easy one. It's packaged well for shipment and comes out of the box for easy assembly in a matter of minutes. It's easily adjustable for drummers of different heights or height preference and the shape is comfortable for the legs. The seat itself is firm and the throne as a whole feels very stable. As with most items, Amazon's price is great! I would recommend this for a drummer of any experience level. If you're looking for your first throne, you can't go wrong with the Gibraltar 6608. Additionally, I'd recommend a backless stool over one with a backrest. It allows for a drummer to be active in their playing, as well as increases your core stability.

Solid and comfortable throne - minor quibbles
The Gibraltar 6608 Moto Style Throne is very sturdy and comfortable. Both my 11 year old son and I both use it comfortably. I'm over 200 lbs and it is very stable. The cushion is nice and thick too. The throne is covered in Vinyl - can't expect leather at this price. Two minor complaints: 1) No setup instructions - setup is easy the only thing that is not clear is where the additional locking collar should go (top or bottom of the stem?) I went with bottom to help lock the height in. 2) The collar requires a drum key to adjust - there are two other adjustments on the stool that have big wing nuts - so why not put a wing nut on this or make all of them adjustable via a drum key and include a drum key - if a drum key is required, it should state that additional "tools" are required for setup and use. Overall it was a good purchase and I'm happy quibbles or not.

Excellent throne!!!
I had been using a broken throne for over a year. It wasn't mounted well since it had broke and was wobbly and all of that. I finally realized it was time to get a new one. I did some research and found this Gibraltar one. I have been an extremely satisfied Gibraltar hardware customer for years. I have almost all Gibraltar Hardware for my entire set, as well as one of their racks. So I figured I'd try this throne. After having it for a few weeks now, I can't believe I waited so long to get a new one. This one is super rock solid built. Very sturdy, and extremely comfortable. Adjusts pretty easily, but once adjusted, it will never let you down by moving or readjusting. It not only has a regular tightening knob, but also a seperate additional locking mechanism that you can hand tighten with your drum key (same one you would use to tighten the drum heads, hardware, etc). This throne does not wobble, tip, or let you down even under the hardest playing experiences. Whether you a hard rock or metal guy who needs a super strong throne so you can give it all your weight so your legs can give your double bass drum pedals a work out, or you are a jazz muscian that just needs a comfortable balanced seat, you cannot possible go wrong with this throne.

I thought it would help my double bass technique...
But I quickly learned that practice actually improves double bass technique. Pros: You can sit on it and adjust its height. You can adjust how it swivels or keep it from swiveling. Seat feels comfortable. Cons: The memory lock was way too difficult to adjust. You look at it and see the usual 4-sided lug your drum key fits. When I loosened it for the first time, I could not move the memory lock, I had to go to the garage to wrestle with it. The seat is a bargain though. I will keep this as a stool for around the house and will find a better round throne. My guitarist loved it as it helps him do the pedal dance more effectively during practice...

I don't knowmuch about drumming but this keeps my butt happy
I stumbled into a too good to be true deal on a killer set of Roland electronic drums but they didn't come with a throne. After reviewing a lot of them I decided this looked like a good value for themoney. And it is. it's great, and very sturdy. I'm 6'2" and 220 and this is as solid as a rock. Assembly was a no-brainer, and it's pretty darned comfortable as I figure out how the heck to play these drum things.
