Metacritque of paradigmatic structure.
I read this, quit my job, set my boss on fire and instituted communism. It exceeded my expectations.

Smash and mis-advertised
The books was smashed and was not as advertised. I was expecting the first volume in it's entirety. Not an abridgement.

Excellent edition
I know it's cheap, but it's a very good quality book for the price, nice and thick. I haven't gotten too far into it yet, but if you are looking for this particular book, this inexpensive edition is a really good value.

Really wish they could break this book up into two ...
Really wish they could break this book up into two parts as a complimentary gesture; overall it's a decent edition of Capital.

the way they are written shows just how brilliant Marx was as a philosopher
Whilst I wouldn't say I agree with his ideas, the way they are written shows just how brilliant Marx was as a philosopher. Barely one chapter in and Marx quotes in several different languages, shows quite an in depth knowledge of Biology, Chemistry, Physics, Maths, Economics, law and philosophy. Whilst his ideas might seem extreme to most, his mind is a marvel, and shown quite in depth in this book. I'd recommend this to anyone interested in actually finding out about communism.

Just because something is clever it doesn't mean it's correct!
Marx has a neurotic pathological obsession with 'surplus value' - we call it profit!!In Marx's mind capitalism has caused slavery, poverty and wrecked the lives of millions and ruined the wonderful world of subsistence farming and workThe reality:Marx doesn't notice that when a company makes a profit it gets taxed and this money goes towards schools hospitals welfare etc.So it's very good that companies make a profit. In fact capitalism didnt invent the concept of profit!.Slavery has been around for thousands of years, capitalism didnt cause it.Working class people in the western world do not drop dead age 18 anymore - working class people can expect to.live into their 70s in the western world. People no longer work 100 hours a week with no breaks.Subsistence farming and living is a romantic concept that in the real world means people have food shortages and are technologically speaking are very backward - look around the world to see how subsistence living does not mean people live in comfort. If working conditions now were as they were in 1860 this book might be useful - but due to progress (a word Marx wouldn't want to hear) life is better now.

Don't buy it folks
The paperback edition by Wordsworth Classics, Volume 1 and 2, is littered with spelling mistakes.I would also argue that the text is too small to be legible, although that is not as bad as the issue mentioned above. You can get a free PDF copy of Capital from marxists dot org.

Very important analysis of Capitalism (even if I don't agree)
One of the most complex and an important critical analysis of Capitalism. While I am not a Marxist the words and the ideas must be heeded and understood. I don't agree with Marxism or the goal of a Communist Utopia society, but this is still as important as it was in the mid-19th Century.
