The Purpose Driven Life: What on Earth Am I Here For?

I first read this book in 2007. I still consider it the greatest, simplest guide to living for God ever written. The Bible is God's word. But it's good to have a guide that summarizes and helps us understand the Bible, and how we best live by it. I have the book as well as the audiobook. The audiobook is amazing, I highly recommend it. I've gone through it over 50 times. Because I constantly need to remind myself it's about God, not me, and I need to align my thoughts with His. It also comforts me in a stressful world full of disappointment, darkness, and confusion. Part of the reason this book has sold 60+million copies is that it explains how our lives are given to us by God for God’s purposes, and until we realize that, our lives won’t make much sense, or bring us much fulfillment. It explains how God is the thread that pulls it all together. It explains clearly, simply, and without pretense. There's no air of spiritual superiority, or shaming unbelieving ways. It's simply life's greatest messages spoken humbly and directly. Rick is a regular person, who simply knows God's word and ways, and shares it with everyone. Our purpose is to treat others as ourselves and do acts of charity, be honorable, be the answer to people’s needs and prayers, and show that God is good and real. God answers prayers that are in line with His purposes, such as helping others rather than just helping ourselves. With this, God gives us thousands of scriptures and points of wisdom and understanding to guide, inspire, and grow us into what He wants us to be. Doing this, we gain many blessings in this life and store up treasure for the next. This book is such a joy. It’s written so simply, anyone can understand it. Sometimes we struggle to to understand God, but this book explains God and life itself like none I’ve ever seen. It takes away our fear and reluctance to figure out God and the Bible on our own. We can DO this. We don’t have to be perfect to do this. The fist step is understanding what all this is and how it works. Then we can begin living with God on our side, knowing His perspectives. It takes some adjustments, but it’s like cheating in the test of life. God gives us the answers! Highly, highly recommended! We've tried everything else. Now we need to truly pursue God and His ways. He will not let us down. It's a shame we can live for decades, even going to church, and not really understand God. This book will change that. Jump right in as you are! You don't have to be perfect to invite God into your life and trust Him to make things better.

Have gifted this several times to those seeking their purpose in life. Great read for anyone also starting out in their faith journey.

I have read the original hardcover version of this book before but ordered the revised version with extra chapters for a church life group discussion. It really makes you think and evaluate how you are living.

Hands down one of the best, most life-changing books I’ve ever read. The Purpose Driven Life is a must-read for every Christian. I couldn’t put it down — definitely keep a highlighter and pen nearby!

Bought used copy but it looks brand new! I read this book nearly 20 years ago & really enjoyed it. I leant my copy out and I never recv'd it back so needed to replace it. This is a newer version of the book, mostly the same with some "new insight" added by the author in addition to the original material. I'm looking forward to reading it all again!

This book is an easy read. Rick Warren, wrote this book for new or older Christians wondering what their purpose in life is. I did not like the "covenant" page in the book. It does back up each day with scripture. The book includes QR Codes to where you can watch online a 30 minute video about the few pages if you want to watch it. It includes some bonus content in this edition. I didn't sign the covenant page as it was something I felt unnecessary to do. I would not rate this book as one of the best books to read. But, it is a good book in context, but the Author shouldn't have people sign a covenant with him despite the intentions behind it could be good, but it goes against my belief system as a fellow believer that the only covenant I make is with God and not man. In this review, I wanted people to understand by buying this book and if you start reading it from start to finish you'd come across that in the start. I read it without signing that paper. The videos just go into breaking the couple page worth of information into better understanding. But, the book is designed for the fellow Christian to understand purpose.

This book deserves this rating , I never read any book from first to last in my entire life :) even my school books :) , currently I am reading the Bible in parallel and will be finishing reading all the chapters soon. So first book to complete is Rick's book. This book is not a book , ever heard people telling often in a company explaining the process how it works and they keep on referring to the term " This is the Bible " , so read it and get familiar . So I would say this book is the Bible for a meaningful purpose driven Life. I have to read it again as this book gives lot of questions , thoughts , especially the difference between World class Christians vs Godly Christians are really explained clearly. I heartfully thank Rick for this book and I strongly believe many would have got benefitted from this book and getting transformed themselves for rest of their life. Once you read this book then if you read other books then you feel like it is duplicated or you can find out the real difference between this books. May God bless Pastor Rick and his ministries.

Easy to follow. If you follow the advice of 1 chapter a day, you will be on good track.

Every believer should read this book! It’s easy to follow, it’s very practical and it’s something that you can easily teach to another. By the end of the book you will have no doubt what God expects of you as a believer, then it’s up to you to get on with it! I would highly recommend! Thanks Pastor Rick!
