These are excellent highly effective reusable rodent traps. Professionals use them.
I used to use "no kill" traps, but a county vector control agent educated me as to why compression traps should be used..... one of them is disease. She was using this Bell trap, so I decided to purchase them here on Amazon. They are high quality, easy to use, cleverly designed, are reusable, and they work. There's a removable-from-the-bottom tube piece which one fills with, for example, peanut butter. Then one simply squeezes the non-serrated end and the trap is set. Even if one places it with a mild bounce on the floor, the trap doesn't shut. It takes a press on the inner platform to close, and the bait is in a hole under that platform. There's no way the rodent can get to the bait without pressing the platform. One just picks up the trap and dead rodent, and them squeezing the non-serrated part releases the animal. The specialist advised that users do NOT clean the trap because it is best to have the rodent odor there. She also advised to keep the open/set trap with the serrated jaws facing a wall. I did lose one of the bait tubes. My fault. So I taped up the hole from the bottom of the trap and used a smaller amount of bait. Have no idea where to buy extra tubes.

Rodents meet your match.
These traps are fairly easy to set. And they are triggered by both mice and rats. I like them so much I bought a second set.

Rats Beware!
I knew I had a rat in my attic from a camera I installed. I bated these traps with peanut butter and pre cooked bacon. Less that 12 hours later I had the little rascal! This trap is easy to bait and set and is deadly. Highly recommended.

Impressed!
I setup four of these traps on top of fence posts 11/28 and they trapped two rats within 24 hours and two more last night. Very impressed.

If do right, no can defend.
Excellent rat traps. Only a few misses, I believe were due to smaller Juvenal rats. Pro tip, place a little peanut butter around the trap as a freebee, let them get a taste for it , I placed a little more on the lower corners to relax the beast, then I placed more on the top of the trap , forcing the rat to stand on its hind legs , and when hes finished a lot of times they place both front feet square on the trap ,not only are they unaware after eating the top bait, being on only two feet reduces thier ability to react . absolutely deadly , best traps I ever used . Im buying four more

easy to set and lethal
So far these traps have worked well. Have killed 3 or 4 rats with them, one got it's tail caught and could not escape, it wedged the trap under a piece of wood, and could not pull it's tail out of the trap, shot it with a BB gun. One of the traps even killed a small possum, feel bad about that, be careful where you set these traps. These traps are much easier and safer to set than the old wood ones. Also easy to dispose of dead rats, just open the trap the same way you set them. It's not so easy to disarm these traps, I use a small stick, or a piece of cardboard to trip them, when I want to add fresh bait. I have had the best luck using bird seed to bait the trap, I sprinkle the seed in the trap. It is fine if the seed goes under the trigger tongue, it's the smell that lures them in. I purchased four of these traps, so far none of them broken, have had them just under a month.

They work great
These are the rat-sized traps. They are extremely easy to use. I had been using glue traps which also work, but aren't very humane. I felt bad for those rats, but this was a war in my mother's house. But rats are smart, and eventually the most clever ones not only avoided them, but literally dragged them off and out of the way. Enter these traps. I caught the most clever, confident and downright rude rat within 5 hours of placing the trap. This guy knew he had the run of the house after I went to bed, went anywhere he wanted with impunity. I named him Rat Bastard, lol. The following night I caught another elusive rat. As others did, I chose to use peanut butter. But if you have a favorite - use that. I also made a point beforehand to eliminate sources of food they could get hold of. A word about scent. I did follow others' advice on not handling the traps directly. But I think it depends on the circumstances. The rats in this house were used to my scent and felt free to gnaw on or drag off things that already had my scent on them. So I don't think it matters with rats already familiar with a human scent in a house - but I saw no downside in following this, and for an outside rat problem, I imagine it matters. These 2 oh-so-clever rats were perfectly killed by these traps. The jaws had them by the neck, and as advertised, I simply picked up the trap, opened the jaws, and then dropped the rat into a trash bag. I consider these traps much safer than the wooden ones. But you don't want to be careless with them. Because if one is set and then comes down on your finger, you and your neighbors several blocks away are going to know about it. The little cup that holds whatever food bait you're going to use twists and snaps into place. I can see how not paying attention could lose the cup. It's small. As others have mentioned, you access the cup from underneath. I appreciated the fact that the cup sits below the trap mechanism: they have to step on it to reach the food bait. I consider these well worth the money. They are sturdy and reusable. The glue traps are a single use item. Even so, mixing up the way you eliminate the rats I think is useful and more effective than a single method. One word of warning: be sure you put them where your pets can't reach them. These will almost certainly break a leg or seriously injure a nose if they're investigating. These traps could really use a set of instructions. They are extremely simple, but there ought to be some warnings (such as monitoring pets around them). This is the only ding I can come up with. Other than that - highly recommended.
