Cap came in a bag with BMW part sticker (and right part number). “Blau” is stamped into the plastic along with “Austria” so it is genuine OEM (or a very good imposter). Fits and seals but is different mechanism than the original with green as it doesn’t turn then click like it used to.OEM does not equate to BMW. BMW has these Original Equipment Manufacturers make and brand the parts, Blau does it for the gas caps. This is a new design for sure but it is legit, or it is a very good replica. If you’re not sure look at ECS Tuning or FCP Euro and they have pictures of the new design for this PN.

Replaced an after market gas cap that didn't seal properly and resulted in the check engine light to come on. After installing the new factory cap and driving a short distance, the check engine light went off.

It fits excellent, and OEM quality can't go wrong. I had purchased an off-brand and it lasted just a few months. OEM will last years.

I got this part for my 328i just because I read "genuine", when it arrived I noticed that was a little different from my BMW part, the color inside from my BMW is green and this part is blue, anyway I installed and the car's computer keeps saying to replace the gas cap, so I returned to amazon and order the real BMW part.

The replacement gas cap successfully corrected the "P0456 – Evaporative Emission (EVAP) System – Very Small Leak Detected" OBDII error on our 2016 BMW M235i. BWM has made it extremely easy to replace the gas cap, 60-seconds or less and no tools required.

It appears to be an OEM cap with the tether and same markings as the original. My vehicle threw a "gas cap" code while traveling out of state. I replaced the cap with an aftermarket cap from an auto parts store and the code kept throwing. I bought this one, and after my first fill up, the CEL disappeared and no more gas cap code.
