The Book of Common Prayer: Pocket edition Kindle Edition

This is a printed copy of some prayer book. Unfortunately the printer of this book does not clearly identify which Episcopal church Book of Common Prayer this is. The most recent "official" version is the 1979 version, and this may reproduce that; the prior edition was from 1929. I believe that printers who publish the work of others, even though perhaps those works are out of copywright should not be patronized. I purchased this because Amazon had put it first on the list that came up from my search and they did not even at that time list the one published by the church. Do not buy this.

I bought this edition specifically because it was the "pocket edition" and marketed as convenient for travel, etc. It is NOT pocket-sized in any way- it is huge! I should have paid careful attention to the dimensions listed. In any case, if you want an inexpensive Book of Common Prayer, then this it it. If you're looking for something compact, look elsewhere.

Ok....I haven't checked out the content yet, but the actual BCP is more "pocket sized" than this book. Please stop marketing it as a pocket sized edition.

Pages don't match the church BCP, but all the info is there with quality print/binding as well. If you consider this a "pocket" edition though, you better have large pockets. It's 2" thick.

It’s huge - larger than the ones in the pews. It’s not the 1979 version and has king James style writing so I can’t use it in church anyway. I don’t prefer that for home use either so it’s just sat on my bed stand... it’s pretty! Reminds me to pray, I guess? But not what I was looking for, and a pretty misleading title calling it pocket sized anyway.

I am a Methodist who just loves the Episcopal Book of Common Prayer. I know, that sounds strange, but it has been a great comfort to me during the Season of Lent, and will always be a part of my prayer life. Our children are Episcopalian so I was familiar with the beautiful prayers before buying one for myself. This is a large book (the same size as my bible), easy to read, and really surprising that it could be offered at such a low cost it . I love the fact that it is paperback because it is so easy to hold and use.

This is the complete and current Book of Common Prayer, but it is NOT pocket sized. It is, in fact, larger than the pew edition you are likely accustomed to. AND the formatting is such that the page numbers do not agree with the pew version. Having said that, I do not see either issue as a negative. This is a very nice paperback edition of the prayer book, with quality paper and easy-to-read type. If you want a copy of the prayer book to use at home, or even to take to church with you, don't sweat the page numbering. You won't beat this price!

A wonderful book!! I have had this Book of Common Prayer for some time now and am just learning how to use it because of the class at church on devotions. The Pastor started off with teaching on the use of the Common Book of Prayer. I had no knowledge how to utilize this marvelous jewel, however, it is far easier than one would imagine. I am looking forward to using it much more often. This book is larger because it comes with The Psalter, or Psalms of David also. This makes it a larger size book. I prefer this because the text size is larger. I was able to see the beautiful leather bound BCP my Pastor has and envied it until I think of the very tiny print. I prefer to have something a little bigger so I can see the print and read it much more easily. This is still a pretty book and has all the necessary things included. And considering the price, come on, you can't go wrong.

Huge disappointment.Cheap looking paper.Uninspired book.Quite small print.Huge sense of boredom.Lack of beauty or devotion or faith

This product was returned...thought I was getting a pocket sized book, but instead got a big heavy book.Will purchase if there is a pocket size version..(which was in the description)

I am not very familiar with the Catholic or Episcopal service, but I do love reading the prayers. They are calming and beautiful.

So pleased to find this book. A great comfort to read.
