The Majestic

Jim Carrey is more known for his comedy, but this happens to be one of my top five favorite Carrey films ever made. It's more of a drama role for him, but I find this full of heart, charisma, and character. Plus, if you love nostalgia and classic Hollywood films, this is a great film to see!

This was a character I've never seen Jim Carrey play. But I have to admit, for being a drama I believe it's his best role yet.

NICE MOVIE - ENJOYED IT VERY MUCH

Definitely a 5 star movie. I think it's one of the best films Jim Carrey ever made.

This film, by the same director who produced "The Shawshank Redemption" and "The Green Mile", is one that I don't expect will be truly understood by the average viewer in this day and age.What is actually being said here is that America as we know it today no longer resembles anything of the past. A lost memory, a lost direction and a lost purpose. As if everyone alive today has a form of amnesia of what it was like to be an "American", where trust and a sense of real humanity, of caring individuals in a small town America concerned not with money and ambition but rather a sense of family are reflected in the experiences of Jim Carrey as he re-creates "Random Harvest".The only inaccurate historical aspect is the complete lack of "religion" in any of the characters and not a church or pastor/priest to be seen anywhere. I believe this was intentional on behalf of the director because he probably realized that any viewer seeing this film about the past in modern times would not believe how religious some people were or how much influence local religious communities had in small towns such as Lawson, California circa 1951.There IS a sense of patriotism and the period was wisely chosen, reflecting the "Red Scare" era of insanity just post WW 2.This movie is well done. It will test the patience of a modern audience because like the time period that it covers, things moved a lot slower. There is a plot and character development, which takes time to give for an adequate revelation of facts. It is well written, lacking any sexual inuendo, there is no character cursing up the screen and no explosions and car chases. It is easy on the eye, artistically filmed and has a certain "magic" about it in the same vein as "The Wizard of Oz" that only hollywood can produce.It is in fact, one of the better films out there. I was surprized at Jim Carrey playing a serious role. He is very good in this film! Take your time, observe everything you see and you will come to understand just how much has been lost.

This is everything a movie is supposed to be. It was ahead of its time so it didn't get the love it deserved when released. If only everyone knew what the future would bring. It is absolutely a film for the world we live in today.

The Majestic isn't the easiest movie to find on DVD, and when you do, it is expensive. I took a chance on purchasing this one used. It arrived on time and in perfect condition. It's been years since I've watched this movie, but in my opinion, this is one of Jim Carrey's best performances. I would order from this seller again.

Jim Carrey is indeed great actor. After "The Truman Show", this is indeed very serious film where Jim Carrey acted. Director Frank Darabont, who gave great movies like "The Shawshank Redemption" and "The Green Mile", gave another masterpiece. Of course, movie didn't do well at box office. I personally don't care about box office performance. I recommend for those who love sentimental drama then this is the best. 5/5

Ce Film est peu connu malheureusement !!!!Je l'ai acheté car Jim CARREY joue dedans ... et je n'ai pas du tout été déçu !!!!Déjà par le jeu de Jim CARREY qui est pas excentrique mais excellent !Et par l'histoire aussi qui est très bellece film ce regarde sans problème , on se met à fond dedans et ca passe super vite
