well-written book with lots of problems to solve
Purchased as used but arrived in new condition. There's an incredible amount of info thrown at high school level kids. (I got my degree 43 years ago) would be nice to get a solutions manual for the exercises, as this is for my personal use. I've worked through several chapters so far -- there's not much if any attention to safety of some experiments they talk about or illustrate - like running 110 volts AC through a pickle <<<----do not try this at home.

Satisfy
I bought this one for my nephew for study in advance. In case he has problem, I read and help him. So far he said he has no problem. Not hard for him. I took chemistry over 15 years. I did go over in general. It is great and easy follow steps

Amazing Textbook!
I think the other reviews are misleading because they are reviewing the vender and not the book. My vender mailed my textbook in great condition.I literally LOVE this textbook! I totally didn't understand weak acid-base equilibria or the wave-particle duality of light and this book presented everything in a clear, concise, and understandable way!Aside from being full of useful information, it's really well laid out with every single type of example problem you could ever want, and many wonderful diagrams.I wasn't the biggest fan of chemistry before reading this book and now I really love the subject because I understand it.Even my biochemistry professor strongly recommended this book to anyone interested in gaining some background in introductory chemistry.Yes, it's pricey, but it's the newest edition of the textbook. For those concerned with the price, consider an earlier version.

Still the best 1st-year chem text ever
Still the best first-year chemistry book ever. Even after all these editions, it has a few errors -- e.g., the Frasch process has been obsolete for a decade due to by-product sulfur from oil & gas and mining, and it misses a lot of opportunities to use real-world chemistry to illustrate fundamental concepts -- but Wow! I like to call the U of Illinois textbook central -- Dickerson, Gray and Haight; Drago; Brown; and now Zumdahl. Keep it up, Steve!

Easy to read and well written
I love Chemistry and I am a bit of a Chemistry nerd so when purchasing this for college, I also read this in my free time. I love the book and it's very educational. Easy to read, easy to understand, and well written. I have kept this book for future references.
