Cute little fella
I love this little guy. Not the sharpest knife, but great for scoring and opening boxes. The black on the handle wears but leaves a nice patina. It's what I wanted

🔑 Small but Mighty! 🔑
The Gerber Gear Key Note is a tiny powerhouse! I’ve added it to my keychain as an everyday carry, and it’s been incredibly useful for all sorts of small tasks, from opening packages to quick cutting jobs. Despite its compact size, the 1" plain edge blade is super sharp and reliable. The design is sleek and minimal, making it a perfect fit for my keychain without adding bulk. It feels sturdy in hand and has a solid build quality, just what you’d expect from Gerber. The added functionality of a pry bar and bottle opener is a nice bonus for an all-in-one tool!If you need a discreet, handy knife that’s always within reach, this is a fantastic choice. Perfect for anyone looking for an efficient, everyday carry tool.

Good for most needs
How often I have spent my time in the office needing a blade to open a package and I have to walk all the way to my cubicle or storage closet to get one? Often enough that I wanted to get something I could carry a bit more discreetly while working on my ID badge. The keynote is pretty versatile, but you do have to do a tiny bit of homework on how to use it well. If you watch the marketing video, you'll realize that the longer portion is for "scraping" and the shorter portion is for "cutting," and both of these work as advertised. I use the scraping edge to scrape my stuck-on PETG 3D prints off my print bed and despite my hesitation, it was sharp enough to get it all off but flat enough that it didn't scratch my print bed. The cutting edge opens packages okay, but I feel like it still isn't as effective as a box cutter, because1) it isn't as sharp as at conventional cutter, so I have to use more force (which you could argue is less safe, despite the blade not really being sharp enough to cut your hands), and2) the stout blade can make it a bit harder to get underneath poorly-taped packages which are like at least half of today's packages. The keynote feels sturdy to hold, a little harder to close than I'd like because of how stiff the locking mechanism is, but at least you're not worried about it folding on you when you use it. It is small, so if you have big hands or weak hands or arthritic hands, it probably isn't going to be as comfortable to hold. I have tiny hands, so it works well enough for me.If you're a knife enthusiast, you'll probably hate this knife, honestly (in terms of practicality). If you're someone like me who lives a mundane life with an office job and occasionally get to open boxes, you'll probably like the knife (in terms of novelty). I really like how unique it is, and how much less threatening it feels to carry because people don't immediately wonder why I have a big scary knife in the office. It's also TSA friendly!I'm debating between 3 stars "it's just okay" and 4 stars "generally favorable" rating, mostly because after writing this I feel like I have been rather critical, but I do like it quite a bit, so I think the 4 stars is more appropriate.

Ok on sale
I got this for half price ($15). For that price this item is ok, but all the other reviewers on here complaining are correct. Not terribly sharp, heavy and a little awkward to open and close. Key ring doesn’t fold past 45 degrees either way and clip is very stiff. Will it open boxes and scrape stuff, yes. Would I buy it again for $15? Probably not. Definitely wouldn’t pay $30.

One of my best purchases
I enjoy pocket knives. I don't have a job or hobby that requires me to use them daily, so I'm not sure why I've purchased so many, but I enjoy them. I've always convinced myself that "this will be the one I actually carry and get more use out of." Well this was the first one were that was actually true. I've been carrying this on my Keychain for 2 years now and have gotten so much use out of it. It's size makes it a perfect carry on a keychain. It certainly adds some weight, but really isn't very bulky. Unless you run a minimalist key setup, you're not going to be annoyed by adding this. The locking mechanisms are very nice. The frame lock to hold it open has never failed me or gotten stuck. The tension to keep it closed is excellent. I have yet to have it randomly open on me even while it's banging around with all my keys and whatnot. The blade is not insanely sharp, which to be clear is excellent. The scraping edge is meant for, you guessed it, scraping, not cutting. The cutting edge is substantially sharper, but again, not razor sharp which is a good thing for a blade you are carrying around which a bunch of other stuff in your pocket. The blade is thick and holds it's angles well and certainly could be easily sharpened if so desired. Where this blade shines is every day use. Need to pry something a bit? Use the scraping edge. Screwdriver? Scraping edge. Breaking down some boxes? Use the cutting edge. Need to quick rough cut a makeshift gasket? The cutting edge will bang it out for you. Those annoyingly sealed plastic packages. No problem.Let's be clear here, you aren't getting the sharpest, most versatile knife of all time here. But you are getting an excellent knife that handles, in my opinion, 95% of people's regular on-the-go knife needs in a form factor that is easy to carry, legal nearly everywhere, and really doesn't scream "I have a knife" if people see it. It's an excellent knife and I highly recommend it.
