An Excellent Stone
Worked perfectly for honing my high carbon steel straight razor. After liberally applying water to the stone and making a few passes, it's very clear how much metal is being left behind. The 5,000 grit side works very quickly but is clean and smooth with well-beveled edges. 25 to 30 passes on the 10,000 grit side polishes up the blade nicely. Nice and heavy, which is good when you don't want the stone to move. Plus, it has a good rubber base that is non-slip.

Gonna give it 5 for the 10k grit
I.e. synthetic stones r a gamble unless u buy direct from Japan and cry when u dish out the $. That said what I can tell u is: lot.of bite on the draw and u can see metal left behind. That means decent grit and no not coarse either. I use on straight razors and it leaves a high polish and good finish. The lower grit ...meh. but figure what u would actually pay for a decent 10k water stone and deal with it.

Works great
This Sharpening stone is perfect for finishing your knife edge. Both the 5000 and 10000 can be used as a finisher, the 5000 for a rough edge and the 10000 for a super smooth razer like edge. I use the 5000 as a stepping point and finish with the 10000 to get a really even edge that will cut through anything. I also got one of their other stones so I can start at 3000 and slowly work up to the 10000. This works great on my Damascus steel knives.

junk
there's no way this is a 10000 grit. it leaves very visible scratches. comparing it to my other stones it's maybe 2000 or 3000 grit at most

10k not as fine as stated
I have a number of various grit water stones and was hoping to get a 10k one for some carving tools I have (I already can sharpen with a reputable 8k stone). I start with the lower stones (800 or so) and work my way up. Normally a mirror like shine starts after 1000 at about 3000 grit or so. I continued through 4k, 6k, and 8k (I know its overkill). When I tried the 10k side of the stone, it dulled the edge down past what I had with the 3k stone...no mirror edge anymore. I believe the 10k is actually between 1000 and 3000. It does work, just not to the advertised grit. I have verified this a number of times in the last couple of months.
