Dell Optiplex 7040 SFF Intel Core i5-6500, 16GB Ram, 256GB SSD, DVD-RW, WiFi ，Win 11 Pro (Renewed)

This refurbished Dell Optiplex 7040 is an excellent little computer! I received the computer a day early from the seller, and it was packaged very carefully for transit. This little computer has a small size footprint, and looks brand new. Installed with Windows 11, this Dell computer started up easily, and runs super fast. This computer was great purchase, and I am very pleased!

Works good. Wifi ok. Doubt if it's good for gaming. Easy to set up.

I am using this for a basic email and web surfer machine. It is very fast..... looks and runs like a brand new machine. Came with a new keyboard and mouse (not refurb) but the most basic cheap KB and mouse. The machine specs out exactly as advertised. Even came with CD/DVD player/ burner. The case is small form factor, so do not get it with the expectation of getting and doing a lot of upgrades. There is a PCI Express. There were NO unpleasant or unexpected surprises. Runs super quiet.... really not bad at all. Here is the deal as to why its so cheap for the most part. The copy of windows is an OEM version issued and licensed exclusively to Dell. You do not get a copy of Windows on disc with this machine, you get a hard drive with an image file on it ( the main drive has a partition on it) which is where the copy is located. You can do full factory restore from that partition and set the machine up like it was the day you got it and it will activate and be a legitimate copy/machine.... BUT it only works on the machine it shipped out with (or one just like it) Microsoft has almost reached the end of life with Win 10.... set for about Oct 2025. I ran the test to see if the machine would take win 11 upgrade and it says NO...however a Google search results many people saying they have run it just fine. The primary reason it fails is the processor. It is not in the recommended list of processors that Microsoft recommends for Windows 11. It passed on every thing else. And like I said there have been many folks who have said they have installed it (win 11) and it is running just fine with this very processor. In conclusion at this price it is almost basically a disposable cup...wait I mean PC, LOL.... you could just buy a new one every couple of years. Or you can do as I am going to and get the latest copy of Linux / Ubuntu Wilma and run that. (free for personal use) You can burn a copy that will boot and run from a USB drive if you want to try before installing (I have no affiliation with Linux or make any thing off this suggestion, its just something I personally like) Ok to end this, I have worked on/built computers for the last 30 + years and have quite a large knowledge base and I just can not find any reason to complain about this PC/purchase.

I'm very happy i ordered this one. Just plug in and go, set up was so easy. Been using this Dell every day for the past 4 weeks and not a single problem. Compact size doesn't take up much space and also looks brand-new.

I had to reach out to the seller for updates on shipping and they did indeed replied immediately. Secondly it arrived on time in good condition and though there’s a visible scratch on the top(or white paint not sure) there’s no visible dents on the pc. Set up was real easy and keyboard is extremely nice I had a mouse already so I will just use mine but I am glad for the one I got from Tek Refurbs. This is my first ever refurbished purchase from Amazon as I am about to begin my work from home journey and so far this pc hasn’t disappoint. I will be using it strictly for work so no games or songs will be downloaded on here however to be on the safe side I also ordered a two year extended warranty from Asurion. I will update you if I find any faults with this pc🥹💥 11/5/2024 Update: This PC is still running great I have been having issues with the keyboard going in and out and when I contact the seller I was told that I am out of my 30day return policy and when I contact Asurion about the issue I was told to send the entire PC back instead of just the keyboard just to fix that simple issue. Now working from home you can see why that isn't an option for me and if I have know that this was what it would be like I wouldn't spend that extra money on no extended warranty. I am still here using the keyboard and will get another one soon. Apart from that as I said everything is working fine.

This thing is such junk! Took me 3 hrs out of the box to do all the updates and it kept freezing up. Then kept restarting me. Here's what really did me in that decided to run it for 2 weeks to see what would happen. About 9 or more times a day will loose keyboard and wifi. You have to unplug an plug back in. This morning it did the mouse .. I run a autoparts business an need a compact as it sits up inside my desk. Well I now have cut a whole in my desk to none stop unplug and plug all day long... my wifi signal is strong. All other computers and tvs running great. Just this one is junk. Now I have so much time invested into putting my business stuff in this im very agrivated. Add said some scratched. I open the box. Looks like it was slid down a ramp or thrown.. very agrivated with this purchase

This is my first Amazon refurb purchase, and I have to say I am quite impressed with this computer for the price. I left the Windows world about 10 years ago, and have been running all Macs since then. But I needed an intel-based machine that had capability to boot legacy BIOS. (I am setting up a dedicated machine to run Spinrite ... for those that know what that is). The whole experience with this computer was like getting a new machine. Excellent packaging. Very clean machine. Shrink wrapped. New mouse and keyboard. Fresh install of Windows 10 Pro which walks you through setup. Auto activates the Windows license. Decent performance and specs for the price. I am kind of amazed. (One thing to note in case any one is wondering ... Windows Update ran fine to install a few updates, but it said the machine was incompatible with Win 11. That is not unexpected with an older machine like this. I didn't look into what the issue was, and I know that for some computers you can install Win 11 anyway and everything will be fine. Just don't be surprised if you are expecting to turn it up to 11 without any hiccups.)

Overall the computer is not bad but it did not come with a wifi adapter, it came with a bluetooth adapter. I had two other issues: After I started the computer and windows loaded it could not update properly. After several hours of restarting and trying to recover and update again, I gave up and downloaded the windows install iso from the microsoft website and that installed and updated just fine in a fraction of the time. The other issue is with adding a graphics card which was supposed to be possible according to the answered questions. I bought a 1050ti graphics card to install but the graphics card requires a PCIe slot and is two slots wide. The PCIe slot in this computer is directly adjacent to the power supply which leaves no room to install the card. If you have a graphics card that is only a single slot width it should fit although that wouldn't really be an upgrade over the built in graphics would it. On the good side, my unit was pretty clean when it arrived, only dirt was the blades on the case fan. It runs quiet and didn't come with all the typical Dell bloatware you get if you buy a computer from Dell. The keyboard was pretty poor but I did have a better one on hand.
