This gate opener is great. It is installed at our front gate. We purchased the opener, controller, with 24v solar. In 4 years it has been out of power one time during one Pacific Northwest winter with no sun for 8 months. Even charges on cloudy days. I took batteries in and charged them on the bench and it stared working again. It is very easy to set up. The instructions are easy to read. I recently had an issue with it stopping during open, but again with the help of emailing the customer service, traced the problem to one of my batteries. Again replaced, a battery, and the opener is functioning perfectly. I will definitely buy with brand again if I have another need and I recommend it to anyone who needs a gate opener. We plan to add a beam switch and an automatic opener. We also purchased their wireless gate keypad. It is still working after 4 years with no battery change. Also, we purchased Topens keychain openers. And we provided family with hey keychain opener so they can open the gate whenever they come over easily. They work great.

This was a large undertaking between myself and a friend who is very good at engineering and math. We both are very experienced in general home DIY project work. It's highly recommended to use moderate to advanced skills and tools, if you are going to do this yourself. It was not easy overall. I did have to engage support regarding the limit switch, which they sent a new one for free, but I had to remove the arm and install it myself. Just be prepared to do a lot of prep work, research, and carefully put all of this together to be effective. I'm happy with this solution overall. First off this is a great gate opener. This is the second one I've purchased only because the first one I moved and had to leave it at my previous residence that I recently sold. It's a great product and the customer service is excellent! I had an issue with hooking up the solar part of my gate. Evelyn was so very helpful. She answered every question via email in a timely manner, provided the part that I needed. And very quickly I might add. She provided clear and easy instructions on how to hook up the part and put it in an easy to read email with picturesas well. I will definitely be purchasing from Topens again if I ever need another opener. When you have a good product and excellent customer service that's hard to come by these days. Thanks again to Evelyn. works short term. but not made to last. would "catch" half way through closing & just stop. would close too far (by like 2 feet) ended up just getting a ghost one & works 10x better from the get go.

I purchased the product to open a 12 foot metal tube gate at the entrance to my property. This product was significantly more affordable than other similar products and it came with 2 solar panels. Once I built and mounted a box for the components, the install wasn't too difficult. I purchased two 12v batteries on Amazon, which I wired together in series. Mounting the solar panels was tedious because of the rather tight space in the frame (had to hold the nut with needle nose pliers while screwing the bolt in to get it threaded and then switch to a thin open end wrench to tighten it. Overall, the wiring isn't too difficult. It does take a bit of time. You can flip a small switch on the control panel to enable auto close. The instructions were adequate and I didn't need to use customer support. I bought two wireless keypads and syncing of the devices wasn't difficult. I am very pleased so far and will update the review if I have any issues in the near future.

Update: I finally figured out that the ground sensor went bad and was causing the gate to open and close sporadically I contacted company and they are sending out a replacement. Truly disappointed! First one had a bad control board. Second one now is randomly and repeatedly opening the gate over and over again. You would think there would definitely be an air with insulation if it did it continually every single day, but it doesn’t most of the time it stays shut with an occasional opening but tonight it’s just continual over and over and over again. Definitely returning the product and going with another brand. I hate all the hours that I’ve spent on this thing already.

After struggling with a lift master arm with similar rating that was replaced only a year before and for which the control board was more expensive than this entire set-up, I am relieved that I was relatively easily able to replace it with this A8s. I did crack the cast aluminum base during my installation but topens was very responsive and graciously replaced for me. Only minimal hiccups for two months now. Great customer service. 10/10 or in this case 5 stars
