I was looking for something to protect my new mattress and keep the stains, shedding skin cells and dust mites to a minimum. It seems to to its job but has some odd qualities that you wouldn’t think about.For instance it somehow traps air inside of it and when you sit on the bed the sheets bubble out with air and slowly deflate. Every time you move into a different position it awkwardly bubbles slightly.The thing that kind of kills it for me is how HOT it is. There is NO air circulation like there usually is in the bare mattress (little did I realize before I added this waterproof cover). I sweat so badly in the Texas summer on the mattress cover. I wake up so hot on whichever side was touching the bed. And that side is all wet.And it wasn’t easy to put on the mattress. I had to have help and it didn’t quite fit my Saatva queen size mattress. It has some extra material left on the foot of the bed and I just have to tuck it in with my sheets. that have to be tucked in with the sheets to stay put.Overall, it’s better than nothing, I think, but I’ll stay on the lookout for a good deal on another kind.

I was hoping this wasn't one of those plastic, crunchy covers that is just to keep leaky people and pets from making a mess of the mattress. Nope. It's soft and cottony and has none of the crunchy ick feel that I was hoping to avoid. Yet it's still waterproof. Amazing.I bought this baby to keep allergens at bay like dust mites and whatever else might have collected in this mattress over the years because I like my mattress and don't want to buy a new one even though they tell you to replace yours after 7 years. (Profit motive? Or in your best interests as a consumer?) Anyway, I zipped this thing on all by myself even though I need my husband to open jars for me.The zipper that closes it up - completely encasing the mattress - hides behind a little flap so it doesn't catch on sheets or snag your jammies - if you're wearing any. Bravo! Now I can keep my mattress for a few more years.
