TEKTON 3/8 Inch Drive 6-Point Socket and Ratchet Set, 73-Piece (1/4-1 in., 6-24 mm) | SKT15311

I'm a retired Auto Tech of close to 20 years and a professional welder. I own Snap-On, Matco, Sunex, GP, Gear Wrench, MIT, Tekton and old school USA Craftsman tools (mostly Snap-On and Matco). While my professional tool set stays in my pole barn, I wanted a 3/8 socket set that I can keep in my vehicle and take to the salvage yard. So I bought this set. I wanted a quality prosumer set. I was looking at this Tekton 3/8 socket set, Quinn, Pittsburgh, Milwaukee, Dewalt and new Craftsman. I ended up with this set because, one, it doesn't skip any sizes. Two, this set is really a high quality set for the price point and three, Tekton's warranty. It is one of the best in the business. You contact them and send a picture of the tool. They ship a replacement out right away. I have never had an issue with them not warranting anything. I live about an hour and a half south of Grand Rapids, MI (where Tekton is located) so turn around is really quick. The down side is no physical stores that you can get it warranted and walk out with a replacement that day. That is where Harbor Freight shines. That said of you loose your 10mm socket, you can't purchase a single socket like you can from Tekton!! The ratchet, is smooth. The chrome finish on sockets and ratchet is really good with no blemishes that I could see. The case is really nice too. While I generally prefer tool bags, I think for a on the go socket set, the case is the way to go. Keeps everything nice and organized. If you leave the cardboard inside the case, everything stays in place. The case looks very durable, although the hinges are questionable, but time will tell.

I own several TEKTON tool sets, and not one has ever disappointed me—and this 73-piece 3/8-inch drive socket and ratchet set is no exception. The range of sizes from 1/4" to 1" and 6 mm to 24 mm covers just about everything I need, making it a versatile set for both automotive and home projects. The included storage case is well laid out, keeping everything secure and easy to find. Like my other Tekton sets, this one gives me confidence that it will hold up to years of regular use. This is a great kit. High quality tools. I like the push-button lock/unlock design - it holds the sockets very tightly. I also like that there are short and long sockets in one kit, with a swivel u-joint adapter, along with other length adapters. I just used it on a DIY auto project and it worked perfectly.

I see what some reviewers say about the height of the normal size sockets. And I can see how that can be a pain in the budd - as they are larger than normal. I actually ran into an issue myself trying to get one in a tight space. But overall, I think the set is really nice. The size of the standard sockets should not make this a deal breaker for you. It's complete, the breaker bar works great. The chrome finish is much better than I expected. There is a nice range of sizes of course in both standard (larger) and extended. The ratchet just feels good in your hand. Perhaps a mechanic would go elsewhere, but this is great for the average joe and home owner. And I wouldn't worry about highlighting the number indicators in the case. It's easily readable as far as I'm concerned. Surprisingly, the company must have listened to a reviewer - as I had a piece of carboard to separate the sockets from the ratchet and breaker bar side. It might not last in the long run. But I'm careful with it and so far so good.

This is my 2cnd order for Tekton Tools. My 1st purchase was for a 1/4" drive combination socket set. I was absolutely amazed at the quality, chrome finish and the preciseness of the fit and finish. I used the 1/4" set to almost completely strip down my 1986 Honda Big Red 250es. This set never backed down and I stressed it well above what anyone could ask. I have to say in the 20+ years I have worked in the Offshore Oil & Gas Business I have not seen a tool brand as nice as this for the price; durability is there and so is the fit and finish!! The tools are heavier duty than stanley / proto and a nicer chrome finish than S&K, If you know you know. They are absolutely beautiful "like jewelry" as the old timer nieghbor of mine said. YOU CANNOT GO WRONG WITH TEKTON PRODUCTS!!!

I have only one complaint with this set. The ratchet itself. The button to release the socket is concave and inconvenient to push in far enough to release the socket. I find myself readjusting my grip or even using my other hand to use the very tip of my finger to push the button far enough. May not seem like a big deal and if you only use it occasionally without the need to swap sizes frequently it’s probably ok. However for my purposes I tend to not use the ratchet because of how annoying it is to swap sockets. It does seem like a good tool aside from that. I like the length of it, has plenty of leverage for breaking stubborn fasteners loose. The end of the handle is rounded, the switch to change direction is made of metal. It also switches lefty tighty, righty loosey like many people are accustomed to with craftsman, snap on and other common brands. I like the case, the sockets seem like great quality for the price. Universal joint comes in handy. I like how they did not add a useless spark plug socket. I like how there are no skips in sizes. I like how the deep sockets are all equal lengths and not mid length. I would buy this set again for $60 I don’t regret it at all.

De buena calidad, no es premium, pero si considero que esta por encima de una gama media. El mecanismo del ratchet se siente muy bien, aún no lo uso para apretar más de 80 libras pie, sin embargo se siente muy resistente, espero no me defraude esta marca, por lo pronto, 100% recomendada¡
